Patch 1.2.2 dropped today and with it came the new Malignant rings. There are 5 of them, one for each class, and each copies one of the Season 1 Malignant Heart Powers. You can check out the actual powers and rings stats below, but first, let’s find out how to get them.
How to Get Malignant Rings
They are actually pretty straightforward to get, especially if you’ve already been playing Season 2 a while. They drop from the Echo Varshan boss encounter, and seem to have a fairly high drop rate, with plenty of players getting them in their first couple of tries. You can find Varshan right next to the Tree of Whispers, in the Malignant Burrow.
In there you will find a Malignant Altar where you have to place his body parts to summon him. You get the body parts in Whispers Caches from completing Grim Favors aka the Whisper bounties. In season 2 the best place to do those in in the Blood Harvest zones, as there is always one up and they have plenty Grim Favors to collect.
However, there are now also reports of players actually getting them as regular Unique drops as well! You’re still much better off trying to get them from Varshan as the drop rates are definitely higher, but if you’re not in a hurry you might get them from your regular play, whether it’s in Nightmare Dungeon runs or anywhere else you might get Uniques. One of the best ways to get Uniques in general, and perhaps even with a higher chance at the rings themselves, are activities in the Blood Harvest zones. The large boss summon braziers in the middle of each zone tend to drop ridiculous amounts of loot (if you can handle them).
