Decorations are a big part of optimizing your Hunter’s build in Monster Hunter Wilds. They improve your armor and weapons with important skills, and getting the best ones can mean the difference between a “good” build and a great one. But farming them efficiently takes some strategy and is not always clear!
This quick guide covers how to farm decorations as fast as possible and which monsters drop the best ones.
What Are Decorations?
Decorations come in three levels, with Level 3 decorations being the most powerful, sometimes even containing multiple skills in one slot. Let’s first go over some Decoration basics:
- Decorations must match their slot:
- Armor Skills (helmet icon) apply to armor pieces.
- Weapon Skills (sword icon) apply to weapons.
- Mixed decorations stack different skills, making them incredibly powerful.
- High Rank farming is the best way to get the strongest decorations.
How to Start Farming Decorations
You will start seeing basic decorations around Suja (Peaks of Accord) in Low Rank, but serious farming begins in High Rank.
Fastest Decoration Farming Methods
There are three main ways to farm decorations. Each has its strengths, so pick what fits your style.
Method 1: Investigations
- How It Works: Investigations are your go-to for decorations. Each quest lists potential decoration rewards, their rarity, and slot type.
- Pros: High reward potential, especially multi-monster hunts with weaker foes.
- Tip: Save a good investigation (up to three uses) by selecting “Save Investigation” before starting. This lets you repeat it for maximum loot.
- Refresh the Map via Tent – This costs 300 points per refresh but can help you find better investigation spawns. To reset while in your tent, navigate to the BBQ Menu and ‘rest.’
- Play in Multiplayer – Joining multiplayer hunts speeds up farming and increases your chances of finding the best investigations.
Method 2: Nightflower Pollen Farming
- How It Works: Gather Nightflower Pollen from Ephemeral Blossoms (a rare plant) in the Windward Plains during a full moon. Trade it for Gold Melding Tickets to get decorations (1 Pollen = 1 Ticket).
- Each Gold Melding Ticket = 10 Decorations, meaning 60 Pollen = 600 decorations.
- Can also be traded for Gold Relic Tickets (used for Tier 8 weapons).
- Bonus: You can also trade Pollen for Hard Armor Spheres to upgrade armor easily.
- Pros: A steady, solo-friendly method.
- Claims of the “tent reset trick” (40-60 pollen/hour) are unproven. Instead, try the ‘Tempered Balahara’ quest during a full moon and use ‘Return from Quest’ to reset.
Method 3: Melding Pot
If RNG is not on your side, the Melding Pot -> Wyverian Melding (located in Suja, Peaks of Accord) provides another way to get decorations.
- How It Works: Visit the Melding Pot in Suja to craft or recycle decorations using rare materials.
- Pros: Control over what you get; great for recycling extras.
- Costs 20 points per meld, with Level 2 options unlocking at Hunter Rank 100.
- Trade requires rare materials (mainly from NPCs) to craft specific decorations.
Monster Hunting for Decorations
Targeting specific high-rank monsters is the fastest way to get top-tier decorations. Here is a quick breakdown of the best monsters to farm (and their weaknesses):
Monster | Weakness | Decoration Rank | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Rey Dau | Water / Ice | High | Ice is 2-Star effective |
Uth Duna | Thunder | High | |
Nu Udra | Water | High | |
Jin Dahaad | Fire | High | |
Arkveld | Varies | Very High | High-tier drops |
Gore Magala | Fire / Dragon | Very High | Best for endgame farming |
Element Tip: Dragon works well against most Tier 3 monsters, which makes it the best universal element. This makes it especially useful to focus on if you do not want to swap gear for every hunt.
The strongest decorations only drop once you reach a higher hunter rank. As previously mentioned, to unlock these best drops, you have to hit HR 40+ and complete the mandatory quest to access investigations with Tier 3, Rarity 6+ decorations.
In the end, it does not matter that much if you prefer to grind out Investigations or use the Nightflower Pollen method; there are tons of ways to farm decorations quickly.
- Casual players can farm decorations naturally while hunting high-rank monsters.
- Hardcore players can min-max builds using fast reset farming methods for insane decoration drops.
With decorations being such a core part of endgame builds, efficient farming can make a big difference. So keep hunting, keep optimizing, and enjoy the grind!
