Unlock Automatic Resource Gathering in Monster Hunter Wilds

Resource gathering got a whole lot easier in Monster Hunter Wilds! Once you reach High Rank, you can unlock automatic resource generation and gathering, allowing you to collect different materials without manually farming them. So, let’s go over how you can unlock this system and which quests you have to complete.

How to Unlock Automatic Resource Gathering

The resource-gathering system is not available from the start: You will need to unlock it through side quests after reaching High Rank. The first step? Talk to Aida and complete her quest to hunt a Rompopolo.

Step-by-Step Unlocking Process:

  • Complete Aida’s Apprehensions Side Quest: Defeat Rompopolo to unlock material gathering.
    • Tip: Talk to Alma and find a quest for Rompopolo. It will work and is more practical than having to go out and look for the monster.
  • Find the quest hand-in NPCs marked by a yellow exclamation point – After completing respective quests, talk to the person responsible for managing resources.
  • You can also speak to the Village Interpreter (Nata) – Once you unlock the system, Nata helps manage and explain gathering options.
  • Complete Zato’s Side Quest – A notification will pop up when the next quest is available. If it is the Fallow Season, rest in your tent to change the season before proceeding, as you might not see this quest pop-up otherwise.

And that’s it!

Keep in mind: To fully unlock all five farmable resources, you must progress through the main story until you reach Chapter 4 (Parts 2 & 3) and Chapter 5.

How the Resource Gathering System Works

Once unlocked, the resource-gathering system allows you to automatically farm for materials without having to go out in the world to do so manually. Here is how it works:

  • Select a resource to gather; each star rating represents the quantity available.
  • Increase your chances of getting specific resources by selecting them manually.
  • Change the environment to boost certain resource spawn rates.
  • Resting speeds up gathering by refreshing resource spawns.

You can either manually select resources or roll for random materials, then return later to collect everything. This is an easy, low-effort way to stockpile crafting materials for weapons, armor, and upgrades!
