Player’s favorite pet is back in Monster Hunter Wilds! Poogie, the sweet little pig, is once again wandering around, this time lighting up the streets of Suja Peaks of Accord with his adorable presence.
While Poogie might not be as interactive as in previous Monster Hunter games, you can still pet him, earn his affection, and, of course, rename him! If you pet him properly (because, yes, there is a wrong way to do it), Poggie will reward you with items. Those can be very basic but also extremely rare if you are lucky!
How to Pet Poogie in Monster Hunter Wilds
First, you need to reach the Suja Peaks of Accord location. This is the only place you will be able to find Poogie. This small zone unlocks during the Main Story. After you arrive in Suja, you should spot Poggie quite fast. He usually just walks around town. Once you find him, interact with Poogie. This will give you two options: Rename or Pet. Petting Poogie is simple but requires a bit of timing. Here is how to do it correctly:
- Approach Poogie and press the according button to start petting him.
- As your character crouches down, wait for an exclamation mark to appear above Poogie’s head.
- When the exclamation mark appears, press X on PlayStation, Y on XBOX, and F on PC to successfully pet him.
- If done correctly, you will see heart effects around you, indicating Poogie’s love!
Be careful, though! If you pet him too early before the exclamation point, or too late after, Poogie will get angry, head-bump you, and run away. But don’t worry; wait around for a bit, and you can try again. He usually runs off into a small side road where you can not follow him, but after a minute or so, he comes back.
Why Should You Pet Poogie?
Aside from the obvious joy of making friends with a cute pig, petting Poogie in Monster Hunter Wilds actually has benefits! If you pet him properly, you have a chance to receive a rare and valuable item. These items can be:
- Gathering resources such as herbs and other various materials
- Monster parts (this can include rare parts)
- Consumable items
However, you cannot farm items from Poogie indefinitely. He will only give you one at a time, and after that you will have to come back later. The little piggy needs time to steal some stuff from the nearby villagers and vendors! You can return to Suja every few hunts or just pet him when you head to the Melding Pot.
Sadly, for the time being, this is the only thing you can do with Poogie. In previous games, you were able to dress him up and interact more with him, so maybe this will be added again in the future!
