Ashes of Creation’s Gatherable Spawning System is Changing

Gatherers in Ashes of Creation will soon experience a shift in how resources appear in the world. The latest developer update details how the Gatherable Spawning System will change over the next three Alpha Two patches (0.8 on April 10th, 0.9 on April 24th, and 0.10 on May 8th), introducing dynamic spawns, surveying, and refinements to processing and gathering tools.

What Is Changing?

  • Dynamic Resource Spawns: Gatherables will no longer reappear in the same spot after being collected. Instead, they will respawn within larger clustered areas, making rare resources harder to predict and requiring more exploration.
  • Surveying Tools: Players will gain new tools to help detect gatherables, locate rarer resources, and even anticipate where they will respawn. This should lead to competition over high-value areas.
  • More Immersive Spawns: Resources will appear in logical environments, such as willows by rivers or copper in caves, while still maintaining random elements for discovery.
  • Processing Improvements: Processing stations will allow crafting for more flexible batch sizes, and will now incorporate mixed-rarity materials, to make sure that rare resources have greater impact on crafted gear.
  • Equippable Gathering Tools: Gathering tools will become equippable items, similar to bags and artisanship gear.

What This Means for Players

No more days camping a single node and farming it on cooldown. Instead, players will need to look for resources actively, use surveying tools, and compete for the best resources. With these changes, rare finds will feel more like an achievement, and the gathering system will be more immersive and competitive.

The developers are looking for player feedback now and during the testing phase, so if you want to pitch in on these changes, be sure to join the ongoing discussion thread on the official Ashes of Creation forum!
