Monster Hunter Wilds just saw a massive jump in players, thanks to the launch of its first big content update. Steam player counts skyrocketed from around 45,000 to over 320,000 concurrent players, and that does not even include console users.
So, what brought everyone back?
The free Title 1 Update introduced a bunch of new content:
- Grand Hub, a new social endgame zone
- Return of fan-favorite Mizutsune
- Arch-tempered Rey Dau, a tougher version of the boss
- A set of new quests
- And the charming new seasonal event: Festival of Accord: Blossomdance
Players on Reddit are also loving the new giant bird hidden near the Grand Hub, which has already become something of a fan-favorite mascot.
Some are also praising the return of Zoh Shia, a powerful new monster that was previously limited to the story. Now available as a full hunt, it is proving to be anything but easy.
Not everything is perfect, though; quite a few players say the update content is too short and question the design of new gear rewards.
Still, the sudden return of so many players shows the hype is real. Monster Hunter Wilds might just be finding its second wind, and we can’t wait to see what future updates hold in store for us!
