Yes, You Can Solo 8-Mask Visions on a Mage – Here Is How!
Soloing 8-mask Horrific Visions is no joke, especially as a squishy caster. But one Arcane Mage on Reddit recently pulled it off in Stormwind, and then shared an incredibly helpful breakdown of how they did it.
If you have been struggling with Visions in Patch 11.1.5 or just want to push yourself a bit more, this might help:
Quick Summary
- Arcane Mage, iLvl 678, fully solo
- Took about 45 minutes playing carefully
- Important tips: go slow, plan Hogger spawns, and watch mob pulls with Soridormi
Full map, mob tips, and boss mechanics below.
The Full Route (Visual)
Here is the full route Kevin used to clear all five zones – including boss locations, trash pulls, and where to expect Hogger.

Path order:
- Trade District
- Old Town
- Portal to Mage Quarter
- Portal to Dwarven District
- Final Portal → Alleria
🟢 = Major trash packs
🔵 = Bosses / Mini Bosses
🟧 = Likely Hogger spawns
‼️ = Danger zones (difficult spots, hard mini-bosses, chokepoints, or deadly pulls)
Setup and Strategy
- Item Level: 678
- Build: M+ talents, fully upgraded Visions tree
- Buffs: Flask, food, mana oil, healing + combat potions
- Companion: Soridormi Construct (tanks but doubles enemy HP)
Even with Soridormi increasing enemy health, the NPC made survival much easier, especially on dangerous pulls. She self-heals out of combat and tanks surprisingly well, though her AI can be messy and get you into trouble if you are not careful with spacing or positioning.
General Tips for Casters
- Go slow! With the
Faceless Mask of the Nemesis, Hogger spawns every 25 kills and restores a big chunk of sanity when defeated, so there is no need to rush.
- Use cooldowns on trash, not just bosses. Most wipes come from big pulls.
Affix notes:
- Bolstering makes Hogger spawns mid-pull very risky.
- Sanity puddles and damage circles can mess with positioning.
- Only drink the good sanity potion (use a WeakAura or reference image) – ignore others completely
If Soridormi or Valeera are with you, leave space and avoid tight corners. Both can accidentally pull extra mobs in the Trade District or Old Town, which can ruin a run quite quickly.
High-Priority Threats
Hogger:
Important for sanity regen, but deadly. Save CDs. Interrupt his cast or outrange it.
Never spawn him mid-pull; plan for it with 1–2 enemies left.
Heartpiercers (Dwarven District):
High-damage ranged mobs that can one-shot you in groups. Save defensives and clear them fast.
Tendrils & Appendages:
Tendrils deal huge sanity damage if their cast goes off.
Appendages have a knock-up burst that can hit for 8–9M; the swirly is dodgeable, but sometimes hidden by ground clutter.
Casters & Executioners:
Touch of the Void is a death sentence if not interrupted.
Executioners pull you in, which can one-shot you if Soridormi is not tanking yet.
Boss Mechanics To Look Out For
- Shaw: Lust + CDs on pull. Dodge circles. Face away from eyes.
- Ul’Rok: Avoid puddles. Jump to shake off bugs.
- Therum: Dodge swirlies. Let Soridormi tank the frontal.
- Umbric: Hardest fight. Interrupt polymorphs, time orbs + defensives.
- Alleria: Mix of all mechanics. Stay mobile, watch swirlies, interrupt poly, and line of sight her big cast.
Clearing all 5 zones solo with 8 masks as a Mage is brutal, but it is absolutely possible. This Reddit guide is one of the most detailed caster-focused posts we have seen so far, and it might just help you get your own clear done.

And if you are doing it on a Mage too? Maybe bring Soridormi. Just… watch your spacing and aggro.
