Resident Evil Requiem – A New Kind of Fear

After the biggest surprise of Summer Game Fest with the reveal of Resident Evil Requiem, coming February 27, 2026, just in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, Capcom gave some more information last night!
This new single-player, offline-only title focuses on “pleasant fear”: the thrill of surviving intense horror and coming out stronger. Players will step into the shoes of Grace Ashcroft, a very shy FBI agent with strong deductive skills and firearms training. As she struggles through terrifying encounters, you will grow alongside her. The game takes you back to Racoon City, where everything started, and everything is doomed to end. Here is some additional information:
- Supports both first-person (for immersion) and third-person (for action).
- High attention to visual storytelling, facial detail, and realistic CG work.
- Set nearly 30 days after Operation Javier, connecting back to the fallout from Raccoon City and Umbrella’s legacy.
- The title “Requiem” reflects a final tribute to the many characters impacted by the franchise’s long-running saga.
- Developers originally considered Leon as the protagonist, but opted for a new, more emotionally vulnerable lead to better serve the horror tone.
It’s described as both a spiritual and emotional farewell chapter, meaning a possible shift in the series’ direction going forward.
