Blizzard continues their class-tuning streak with a brand new week of updates on the Patch 11.2 PTR. Once again, Death Knights are at the center of it all. Petko breaks down every major change in his latest video, including buffs, set bonus tuning, and some eyebrow-raising nerfs across other classes.
Let’s get into the biggest class changes from this week’s build!
Big Death Knight Buffs… Again!
For the fourth week in a row, we see Death Knight changes on the 11.2 PTR.
- The Deathbringer 4-set bonus has been buffed.
- We have some bug fixes on Rider of Apocalypse.
- The Frost Death Knight set bonuses have been buffed.
- Unholy was double-dipping a lot for doing more damage than intended, and they fixed all the scaling issues. The spec received multiple buffs.
- Frost Death Knight got a baseline +10% damage increase.
- Obliterate was buffed by 30%.
- On top of that, Empowering Rune now scales with Mastery.
Demon Hunter Changes
- The Aldrachi 2-set bonus has been nerfed, it was overperforming a bit. Petko expected more nerfs to the tier set.
- The Fel-Scarred 2-piece bonus was nerfed, which didn’t make much sense, as the Aldrachi is the way more superior one.
Druid Changes
- Elune’s Chosen 2-set bonus was nerfed. This is being played by Guardian in Mythic+ so the nerf will impact them the most.
- The WIldstalker 4-set bonus received buffs, but Petko doesn’t think it will impact the Hero talent choice much.
Evoker Changes
- The Chronowarden 4-set class bonus was buffed.
- They also fixed a bug where Afterimage wouldn’t be affected by the 4-set bonus.
- The Flameshaper 2-set bonus was nerfed this week.
- Scalecommander received a bug fix where the 4-set bonus wouldn’t dynamically update
Mass Disintegrate or
Mass Eruption when applied or removed.
Hunter Changes
- Beast Mastery Hunter received some bug fixes.
- Petko expected nerfs to their set bonuses, as they currently perform the most single-target and AoE damage out of all the classes. Maybe Blizzard will nerf them in a future build and redistribute some of the raw power by buffing the spec by a fixed percentage? We’ll see.
Mage Changes
- The Frostfire 2-set bonus was buffed.
- Sunfury 2-set bonus was nerfed.
- This week’s changes for Mages aren’t really too impactful.
Monk Changes
Mystic Touch increases Physical damage taken by 8% (up from 5%).
Paladin Changes
- The Lightsmith set bonuses were nerfed.
- The Protection Paladin spec needs to be buffed durability-wise.
Shaman Changes
- Elemental Shaman‘s Stormbringer 2-set bonus was nerfed.
- The Enhancement 2-set bonus was also nerfed.
Warrior Changes
- The Colossus 4-set bonus was nerfed. Blizzard most likely wanted to nerf Prot Warriors here, which indirectly also affects Arms Warriors.
- Mountain Thane Fury 2 and 4-set bonuses got drastically buffed.
Execute damage increase on the Slayer 2-set bonus was nerfed by 10%.
Spellbreaker has been updated and now has an 8% chance to affect a magic damage event, but reduces damage taken by 50%.
