AC Shadows: Players Missed This Hidden Weapon Customization

Asassin’s Creed Shadows Players Are Just Now Discovering Hidden Weapon Customization:

Turns out, you can fully customize individual parts of your weapons in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and a lot of players had no idea.

A Reddit post by user RichDota2 recently caused a big reaction this week after this player revealed that they only discovered this feature after 55 hours of playtime. And they are not alone. Dozens of players were surprised about the info that you can change each weapon part; blade, hilt, guard, and scabbard, separately for a more personalized look.

How It Works (And Why Most Players Missed It)

To access this system, you need to build the Forge at your Hideout. Once that is done, open your inventory and press the Customize button (Y on Xbox, Triangle on PlayStation) while hovering over a weapon slot in the overview, not the item itself. This opens a separate menu that lets you edit each part’s visual appearance.

You do not need to upgrade the Forge to higher levels unless you want to improve stats. The customization works at Forge level 1.

Many players assumed this feature only allowed basic transmogs, like in Valhalla or Odyssey, or were confused by the “Visualize” button, which just rotates the item instead of unlocking the customization options.

Things to Know Before You Try It

  • You can only customize weapons once the Forge is built.
  • Not all weapons are compatible, many deluxe edition or premium gear items (like Yasuke’s katana) are currently not customizable. This could be a bug or a limitation tied to their design.
  • There is also a bug where customizations may reset after dying or fast traveling. The workaround? Confirm each part change individually before backing out.

Even though the UI is quite clunky and there is a clear lack of in-game explanation, most players are loving the feature once they find it. Matching weapons to outfits has become a favorite pastime, and some are already hoping for even more options, like customizing Yasuke’s offhand blade.

So if you have been unhappy with your gear aesthetics, it might be time to build that Forge and get into one of the most underappreciated features in Assassin’s Creed Shadows!
