Hackers in Genshin? 3 Ways to Lock Down Your World

Have you fallen victim to corrupted worlds, falling trap glitches, and soft-locks with no way out? Learn more on the current state of Genshin Impact, how the hackers infiltrate worlds, and fix your account today! Whether you’re a new Traveler or a veteran, these tips will keep your world as safe as it can get.

What is the Hacking Issue in Genshin Impact?

In the past year of the Genshin Impact community, you may have heard of a hacker who deals unbelievable amounts of damage. They also enjoy making content out of pit-fall traps where you fall forever in. However, they are no longer just trolling around on the internet.

Confirmation of Hacking in Genshin Impact

From blocking NPCs and deleting content in worlds, all victims will have a difficult time making their space safe again. This hacker goes by many names and creates content on several video platforms, none of which I’ll link here. They feed off of their victims’ desperation and struggles, so it’s a safety measure!

However, one vigilant Traveler, Onjo_Nomnom on HoYoLABs, has carefully curated an overview post of all activities and issues caused by the hacker. Several posts, one too many, which is concerning to say the least. Let’s review their key points and the few steps you should take to avoid hackers at all costs!

How Do Hackers Cause Problems?

Currently, there are three primary methods that will affect your gameplay:

  • Corrupting your World’s NPCs and Missing Content
  • Create Pitfall Traps in Co-Op Worlds
  • Stygian Onslaught Matchmaking

Now, IcyVeins has previously covered the latest content added in Genshin Impact: Stygian Onslaught. If you don’t know much about it, I highly recommend you read the guides first before trying it out. This is an extremely difficult game mode in general, so it’s no surprise for players look for help.

Falling through the Floor is a Hacking Issue in Genshin Impact

However, one of its limitations is that Difficulties at Menacing IV or above require players to join the same world. This is intended to increase coordination between players and teammates, which is a great thing. Instead, this hacker invites players to glitched worlds and traps them by making players continuously fall and take unnecessary damage.

No more Stygian Onslaught in Genshin Impact

If your world is open for Co-Op instead, that’s even better for the hacker: they get to corrupt your world too. There are reports of the hacker deleting Stygian Onslaught from worlds and blocking NPCs so players can’t interact. It sounds crazy, right? I wouldn’t have believed it either, if it wasn’t for the many player reports.

What Can I Do to Stop It? How Can I Fix Broken Worlds?

Unfortunately, hackers (not just this one) will likely continue to show up every now and then. The developers of Genshin Impact are not omnipresent, they can’t solve an issue unless they know about it. It’s not just one regional server either, all accounts in NA, EU, and Asia can get affected by hackers.

There are three ways Onjo_Nomnom recommends to prevent hackers from corrupting your world: reconnection, resetting, and gatekeeping (literally!).

Stop Falling by Force-Closure

If you are trapped due to constantly falling, you should force-close your game application immediately. Mobile and Console players will need to force-close the game by going to the home screen, whereas PC players can ALT+F4 (Windows) or use the Task Manager. We recommend you wait at least 20 to 30 minutes before reconnecting to the game. By then, you should be back in your own world, and can safely report the hacker by going to “Companions > Past Players > Report and Block“.

You can also restart your device or disable the Wi-Fi or internet connection to force your character to auto-leave Co-Op. However, you should still wait at least 20 minutes before reconnecting.

Stop the 20,000,000 Damage Bug

20 Million DMG bug in Genshin Impact

Dealing big numbers due to your hard work and good luck is, understandably, fun to watch and celebrate. But that joy gets taken away the moment someone else does better damage than you… for less than 1/10th of your efforts.

You can obtain the Purveyor of Punishment achievement by dealing over 5,000 CRIT DMG. Honestly, it doesn’t seem that impressive after you’ve played the game for a while, right? Well, this achievement will continue to update the highest CRIT DMG dealt, and the number will stay on your account forever.

So if you end up playing with the hacker, who can cause a 20,000,000 CRIT DMG bug to occur, well now you have a hacked score and the achievement isn’t really yours anymore.

To solve this problem, you can open the in-game Feedback Form and look for the “Purveyor of Punishment Reset” option. Once you’ve submitted the feedback, within the day, the score will reset back to 0 and you get to keep the achievement. So even though your score will no longer be what it once was, at least no harm was done to your Primogems or valuable efforts. Unless you need to re-farm artifacts again (oh no).

Follow These Safety Precautions

Paimon gets saved by the Traveler

There are definitely a few more ways to stop hackers, but the following are just general safety precautions. You should always aim to follow them whenever you can:

  • Do NOT accept random Co-Op Invites from Strangers
  • Avoid Matchmaking in Stygian Onslaught, only play with Friends you know
  • Block and Report Suspicious Players
  • Spread the Word!

Remember to stay vigilant Travelers! It would be a shame if you couldn’t play Genshin Impact anymore, especially if you aren’t a trouble-maker. 😢
