Battlefield May Become An Annual Release Title Like CoD In The Coming Years

It was reported by Michael Pachter, an industry analyst, that according to Byron Beede, Electronic Arts wants Battlefield to become an annual title. Byron Beede is the general manager of the Battlefield franchise and has claimed that EA wants three studios to work on the shooting game franchise for a three-year cycle to release the game annually.

However, according to Michael Pachter, Beede also claimed that EA is currently five to six years too early for releasing Battlefield as an annual title, but that’s their end goal for now. Pachter believes that EA should’ve adopted this strategy about 15 years ago if they wanted to catch up to the Call of Duty franchise.

Battlefield, As An Annual Release Title

For many years, Battlefield has released an installment every few years. Meanwhile, their prime rival in the genre, Call of Duty, has been an annual release title for many years. Many fans still believe that the Battlefield franchise should remain unchanged, rather than releasing a new title annually.

On the other hand, Call of Duty is quite popular for releasing a new installment every year. This annual release plan allows the game to stay updated and fresh. But the annual release plan also requires the fans to purchase the game again every year.

For now, there hasn’t been any official statement from EA confirming their plans for making Battlefield an annual release title. However, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, which was held recently, was a massive success. Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, 2025.

Do you want the Battlefield franchise to become an annual release title? Or, do you prefer the franchise to stay as it is, and release a major title every three to four years?
