CD Projekt Red is back at it with another cryptic teaser! This time, they are even blurring the line between Cyberpunk 2077’s universe and our own. A strange message made as an “official communication” from the N.U.S.A. (New United States of America) popped up lately on CDPR’s socials, dated September 4, 2025.
You can take a look at it here:
The in-universe note from President Rosalind Myers, warns of a “mounting cybersecurity threat” and calls for brave “netrunners” to step up and defend the nation. And it even ends with a call to action:
“Take our recruitment test. Prove yourself. Serve the N.U.S.A.”
What Could It Mean?
Players are already dissecting the announcement on Reddit, and theories are flying:
- Photo Competition: Many players think this is just another Netrunner-themed photo mode contest, similar to previous ones CDPR has run. This is making some people worry that it might favor PC players thanks to mods and higher-quality screenshots. But past contests banned modded entries, so this should not be a problem.
- ARG (Alternate Reality Game): A few fans noticed hidden ciphers in the image that translate to “secretMSG.” That has them convinced this could be the start of a full ARG leading into Cyberpunk’s 5th anniversary.
- Developer Recruitment: Another popular theory is that CDPR is sneakily recruiting real-life netrunners, as in developers, for Project Orion (the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077). Using in-universe branding as a job teaser would fit CDPR’s style!
- DLC or Spin-off? A smaller group of people is still holding out hope that this ties into future content, like a surprise DLC or information on Edgerunner Season 2. CDPR is known for their quality DLC, and even if Phatom Liberty had dependent endings, it could be a DLC that does not impact any of the base game or Phatom Liberty endings. After all, CDPR already did that for The Witcher 3 with the Hearts of Stone DLC.
When Will We Know?
The teaser hints at September 4, 2025, as the key date. We will find out in just a couple of days for sure!
Until then, sharpen your quickhacks, because the N.U.S.A. is watching!
