What Will PvP Look Like in Chrono Odyssey?

When it comes to PvP in MMO games, everyone has an opinion. Some want PvP to be the ultimate end-game content, where the results of their performance can lead to their name on the top of a leaderboard, access to the best items and gear in the game, or even an impact on the world itself within the environment (such as controlling a portion of the map). Others prefer a more relaxed approach when it comes to PvP, such as making it fully an option to participate in, and hoping that it isn’t required to gain access to exclusive, powerful gear.

When it comes Chrono Odyssey, we can already see the direction they are planning on going in this recent post by their CEO, BongGun Bae (see below).

Based on this response to PvP, it seems like the future of PvP in Chrono Odyssey might be a bit more relaxed than other games in this genre, and will not include any ranked PvP leaderboards.

However, it is clear that there will certainly be a range of PvP-oriented activities within the game, with a slight teaser that more activities will slowly make its way to the game.

Confirmed PvP Modes in Chrono Odyssey

As of today, we are already aware of a range of different types of PvP within Chrono Odyssey, which includes the following:

  • Open-world PvP, which is when players manually flag-up before leaving a town or bound stone, and come across each other in the open-world, allowing them to battle each other.
  • Duels, which allows players to challenge eachother at any given point in the open-world. Losing a duel will not result in needign to be revived to a town or bound stone.
  • Eden, which seems to be a PvEvP end-game extraction mode that will reward players with exclusive rewards (time will tell on how impactful these rewards will be).

The Future of PvP in Chrono Odyssey

There will very likely be more PvP-oriented activities coming to Chrono Odyssey, but as to what exactly those will be is still unanswered. Multiple rumors are already spreading on what some of these can be, ranging from battle-royale and 5v5 instanced PvP modes, to even the potential of a “Region War”, allowing players (or guilds) to take control of certain regions within the map.

This rumor of “Region Wars” started spreading when the screenshot below was shared of what a player encountered when exploring outside of the “out of bounds” area within the first closed beta test (which visually seems to be very similar to wars within New World: Aeternum).

It’s important to note though that this was found in the unrestricted area of a closed beta test, so the chances of this potentially changing in the future is very high.
