Genshin Impact has slowly but steadily been expanding out its customization options over the years, from new skins to trail effects from Envisaged Echoes. Now, with the latest leaks suggesting that weapon skins may be on the way, it seems HoYoverse is ready to take this even further.
This new information comes from twitter user MadCroiX and was shared recently to the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit sparking discussion amongst fans.
While no visuals or details about what these weapon skins might look like have been revealed yet, this config file strongly suggests some level of backend development is already underway. It’s possible these skins may be tied to upcoming events, battle pass rewards, or even the new endgame content releasing next patch.
It’s worth noting that this is not official information and should be treated as speculation until confirmed by HoYoverse, they could always just be testing a feature that never is implemented. We also do not know anything about if the skins could be related to weapons that already exist, such as allowing users to have Arlecchino’s unique weapon effect without pulling, or new weapon styles entirely.
Whether weapon skins will be free, event-based, or tied to in-game purchases also remains to be seen. But for now, fans can look forward to the possibility of giving their favorite swords, polearms, and bows a stylish new look in the near future.
