Fellowship’s Early Access Launch Overwhelms Servers After Record Rush

Fellowship just launched into Early Access on 16th of October peaking at just under 21,000 concurrent players — over the 18,000 the most recent playtest a month ago despite the open test being completely free.

Leading Up to Launch

From their first appearance last year until today they managed to accrue 40,000 followers and reach grew all the way to #60 in Wishlist Activity on Steam, as reflected by SteamDB’s records.

Over the last month Chief Rebel and Arc Games have been releasing spotlight videos, live streams, trailers and their efforts have paid off, finally releasing today to a huge success for the small studio.

Early Access Launch

Concerned about clashing with Battlefield 6’s launch, Fellowship’s launch was delayed until 16th of October from the 9th of October. This moved them to a week where there was no competition.

The game launched with a huge amount of changes from the most recent Open Beta including a brand new character, an archer-style DPS Elarion

Server Capacity Issues

Unfortunately, perhaps not expecting an even larger turnout than the free test, the game ran into various login and matchmaking issues for the first couple of hours of launch.

In response, the community manager CR_Hamish has been streaming and giving updates to the community to 5,000 concurrent viewers (and 40k across the entire twitch category).

What’s Next for Fellowship

With an impressive Early Access debut and a dedicated player base desperate to get in, Fellowship’s future is looking bright. If the team can stabilize the servers and maintain this momentum, the game could become one of 2025’s standout co-op releases.
