The Catalyst is making its debut on live servers with the launch of Season 1, and players will get their first Catalyst charge tomorrow, September 10. This feature brings a new way to upgrade your gear, but there’s more to it than just using the charges. Here’s a breakdown of what the Catalyst is, how it works, and why you might want to hold off using it right away.
What’s the Catalyst?
The Catalyst is a powerful console located in Dornogal (coordinates 50, 54), designed to help players transform their eligible non-set gear into valuable tier sets. To qualify, the gear must be of Veteran track or higher. Using the Catalyst allows you to turn these pieces into full class set pieces, with powerful set bonuses.
How to Get Catalyst Charges
Catalyst charges are distributed automatically, with the first charge being available starting September 10. You will gain additional charges every two weeks, and your character can store up to nine charges at a time.

Should You Use Your Catalyst Charge Immediately?
Not so fast! Before you spend your charge, it’s wise to complete a few runs of Nerub-ar Palace to see how many class set pieces you can obtain. This could save your Catalyst charges for better items down the road, when you really need to complete that 2 or 4-piece set bonus.
How Does the Catalyst Work?
Your character must interact with the console to bring up the Catalyst User Interface (UI). There, you must click the green “+” sign to insert an eligible Veteran track or higher item.
Next, you can browse all eligible items from your inventory.
Finally, when you decide which item you’d like to upgrade, you will see the resulting item on the right side. Hitting Transform will convert the non-set item into a class set piece.
Plan Ahead for Future Catalyst Charges
Remember, Catalyst charges are valuable, so planning their use strategically will help you gear up effectively for future content. Your second charge will be available on September 24!
