In Monster Hunter Wilds, you have the possibility to wound monsters. This allows you to exploit their vulnerabilities for increased damage and rewards. Tempered Monsters wounds are characterized by their blue glow, and they allow you to get extremely rare materials needed for Artian Weapons. However, it is not always easy to understand how you can trigger those wounds. Here is a quick guide for you!
Understanding Tempered Monsters and Their Blue Wounds
Tempered Monsters are powerful predators marked by distinctive battle scars, which appear as glowing blue wounds.
These scars are not only cosmetic! They serve as indicators of the monster’s extreme strength and resilience, having survived numerous battles. Engaging these monsters requires careful strategy, as their tempered state makes them more challenging than their regular counterparts.
In order to weaken them, you will have to specifically target those battle scars.
Mechanics of Blue Wounds
The blue wounds on Tempered Monsters function as follows:
- Battle Scars: When you start a tempered fight, Alma may tell you that there are “Battle Scars” on the monster. She does not say that just for pleasure, it is precisely to tell you to focus those scars.
- Target the Battle Scars: They can be easily identified. The monster will have massive white scars on some area of its body. These are the battle scars you need to target to proc blue wounds.
- You can only trigger a blue wound by targeting those white scars, there is NO OTHER WAY.
- Use Focus Mode to aim at those wounds and deal massive damage to them. Once the wound is applied, focus mode will highlight them blue instead of the usual red.
- Equip Weapons or Armors that enhance wound breaking
Rewards from Exploiting Blue Wounds
Successfully targeting and destroying blue wounds provides valuable materials:
- Wyverian Bloodstone: A rare crafting material essential for melding advanced gear, obtainable by breaking blue wounds on Tempered Monsters.
- Artian Weapon Components: Weapon Shards drop from these wounds. You can combine those to craft Artian weapons, which are most likely your BiS weapons.
