Lately, Dune: Awakening players are reporting a major bug that seems to be locking them out of their characters, especially after dying in the Deep Desert! Multiple Reddit threads surfaced with players trying to find a fix in order to log back on their character!

What Exactly Is Happening?
According to the players affected, here is the issue:
- You die in the Deep Desert.
- You try to respawn, but the game disconnects.
- After that, your character gets corrupted.
- When you try to log back in, the game crashes after the loading screen.
The problem seems to only affect one specific character on that server. Other characters on different servers still work fine. It is just you can’t log back on the character that died.
Some players, including one with a level 185 character, say they have been locked out for days. If it is not fixed by Tuesday, they risk losing all their gear and base to the in-game Coriolis storm wipe.
Is a Fix Coming?
Yes, Funcom is aware of the issue. Community Manager Iggy shared this update on Discord:
“We have found the problem and also found a fix. We’re now working to try to make it work without the need to wait for a patch.”
The fix seems to work in internal tests, but it is still unclear if it will go live before the next scheduled update.
Possible Workaround?
Some players said they managed to fix their characters by:
- Logging into a different Sietch or shard (basically another area/server instance).
- This seems to “unstuck” the character and lets them return to the main shard.
If you only had one character and this one is bugged, you can try to create another character on another server, log in, and then log back out and try reconnecting to your main character. It seems to be working in most cases, so it is definitely worth a try!
However, this method does not work for everyone, and it is unclear if it is a real fix or just lucky timing.
If you have been hit by this bug, you are not alone, and hopefully, a full fix is coming soon! They are definitely working on it! Until then, avoid risky respawns in the Deep Desert if you can.
