How to Unlock High Rank & Rank Up Quickly in Monster Hunter Wilds

Ready to take on tougher monsters and unlock some powerful gear? High Rank is where Monster Hunter Wilds really starts to test your skills, and getting there is a big step in your progression. Here is what you need to know about unlocking High Rank, ranking up, and how to get there quickly.

How to Unlock High Rank

Hunter Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds is your progression system, but instead of leveling up your character directly, you advance through Hunter Ranks.

To access High Rank quests, you will need to finish Low Rank first. Think of it as your early game checklist before the real challenge begins:

  1. Complete All Main Story Quests in Low Rank
    • The game guides you through necessary hunts, while teaching you mechanics and helping you gear up for the harder battles ahead. If you are stuck, check your quest log to make sure you have not missed anything.
  2. Reach Hunter Rank 10 (HR10)
    • While not officially confirmed yet, it looks like hitting HR10 is required before High Rank unlocks. The best way to rank up? Keep hunting! Finishing main quests gives the most rank points, but optional quests help speed things up, too. Check with Alma to complete optional quests if you have not done them all already.
  3. Defeat the Final Boss of Low Rank
    • Every Monster Hunter game has a big fight that marks the transition into High Rank, and Wilds seems to be no different. Expect a tough battle, so craft your best gear, stock up on healing items, and bring friends if you need backup or make use of the SOS Flare system.
  4. Talk to the Guild Master
    • Once you have cleared the final fight, head back to the hub and talk to the Guild Master. This will then officially unlock High Rank quests, opening up new areas, harder monsters, and even better loot.

How to Rank Up Faster

Unlocking High Rank is just the beginning; now you need to increase your Hunter Rank (HR) to unlock even more content. Here is how to rank up as quick and “easy” as possible:

  • Prioritize Main Story Quests – They give the most rank points, so focus on clearing them first.
  • Do High-Level Optional Quests – These provide extra points and rewards, helping you progress faster.
  • Hunt in Multiplayer – Quests completed in multiplayer count for HR progression, and taking down monsters as a team is way quicker!
  • Perform Well in Hunts – You can earn bonus rank points by finishing quests quickly and without carting.

As your rank increases, you will unlock better weapons, armor, quests, and even features. High Rank is where Monster Hunter Wilds really opens up, so get ready for tougher fights, new strategies, and more awesome gear. Time to hunt!
