Last Epoch Season 2 Patch Brings Massive Overhaul, New Faction, and Endgame Updates

Last Epoch Season 2, Tombs of the Erased, launches on April 17, 2025. This major patch introduces a wide range of new features and improvements that affect both general gameplay and the endgame experience.

Patch 1.2 brings significant changes to endgame progression, balance, and crafting, alongside a complete overhaul of the Sentinel class and various quality-of-life enhancements. It also marks the beginning of Season 2, introducing a brand-new seasonal mechanic and revealing the Woven, a mysterious new endgame faction.

Here is a breakdown of the biggest additions and changes coming in Patch 1.2.

Features and Systems

Various new features and systems have been added for Season 2. The most important ones are the following:

  • The Woven Faction:
    • Tombs and Cemeteries of the Erased within Monoliths.
    • The Weaver Tree.
    • Memory Amber currency.
  • Woven Echoes:
    • 36 unique Woven Echoes that offer exclusive encounters and endgame bosses.
    • New boss: Uber Aberroth.
    • Exclusive Uniques.
  • Idol Enchanting System:
    • Found in Tombs, Cemeteries, and Woven Echoes.
    • Allows you to get Idols with specific new affixes.
  • Six New Endgame Crafting Systems:
    • Set Reforging: Break Set items into shards to craft Reforged Set Items.
    • Attribute Affix swapping: Replace Strength/Dex/Int/Attunement on gear.
    • Experimental Item crafting: Add experimental affixes to Belts, Boots, Gloves.
    • Unique, Legendary, and Set Affix rerolling: At the Sacrificial Altar you can sacrifice a Unique, Legendary, Weaver’s Will, or Set item to reroll all affix values of a matching item.
    • Legendary Potential rerolling: Risk rerolling LP to gain more or lose it all.
    • New Crafting Runes: Including Rune of Weaving, Havoc, and Redemption.
    • Eternity Cache adjustments: At Temporal Sanctum Tier 2 and above, you can now select 1 affix from your Exalted item to guarantee it is included on your resulting Legendary item when sealing the Eternity Cache.
  • New Unique Items and Idols
    • New Uniques across all classes and new Weaver’s Will Uniques.
    • Unique modifiers for idol types, including Weaver Idols with exclusive affix pools.

Monoliths and Dungeons

A few adjustments and modifications have been made to both Monoliths and the Dungeon system:

  • Monoliths
    • New objectives have been added, such as:
      • Slay X Champions
      • Slay X Exiled Mages
      • Activate shrines until ambushed
      • Open Lost Caches until ambushed
      • Stabilize the Echo
      • Find Cocooned Item
    • Shared Monolith timeline: Non-Empowered Timeline unlocks are now shared between characters that have access to the same stash.
    • Shade of Orobyss: Now scales with area level.
    • Arena Echo changes:
      • Fewer waves and better rewards
    • Spire changes: Now always spawn with a Spire Guardian.
    • When you die in an Echo, all items in a small area around your corpse are brought with you to the Echo of a World.
  • Dungeons
    • Key Charms: Key Charms are a new item in Season 2 that can be used at the entrance of any dungeon to modify your dungeon experience. There are currently two types of key charms:
      • Portal Charms: Allows you to teleport directly to the boss.
      • Scale Charms: Increases the spawn rate of Loot Lizards.
    • Black Market Key trader: You can trade dungeon keys against Portal charms at the Black Market.
    • Respawning: You can now respawn at the location where you died, as long as you have dungeon keys remaining in your inventory.
    • Quests and Unlocks: Completing any dungeon for the first time now rewards 2 passive points and 1 Idol slot each. These quests also direct players to the alternate dungeon exit, which allows bypassing a portion of the Campaign.

Class and Skill Updates

Various skills and passives have been adjusted for Season 2. The biggest changes to class and skills are the complete Sentinel rework and the new Heartseeker skill for Rogue:

  • Adjustments have been made to Ailments and Evade:
    • Time Rot’s base damage is now 60 (from 55).
    • Time Rot, Doom, and Abyssal Decay now use different rules for being replaced when the afflicted character is at the maximum stacks of that ailment.
    • Instant-cast abilities can be used immediately during Evade.
    • The player can use abilities after the stun effect ends if the player was stunned during evade.
    • Movement has been made smoother for the game at more than 60 FPS.
    • Evade is now smoother in Online mode.
    • Evade no longer stutters at the edges of the map.
    • The Evade animation no longer gets stuck if the skill is cast at the edge of an obstacle.
    • Fixed an issue where Mages could get stuck after the evade animation.
    • Fixed an issue where the second cast of Evade would break if clicked quickly.
    • Fixed getting stuck in evade when used after skills such as Teleport, Transplant, and Void Cleave.
  • Bug fixed for movement skills and minions.
  • Sentinel rework:
    • Passive trees: Over 65 Sentinel passives updated across Paladin, Void Knight, Forge Guard.
    • Skill adjustments: 22 of 26 Sentinel skills reworked or rebalanced.
  • Heartseeker:
    • Single-target projectile with a unique Recurve mechanic for repeated hits.
    • Full specialization tree with damage conversions and recurve-based buffs.
  • All the other classes have also received various adjustments to both passives and skills.

Enemy and Combat Updates

Loot, overall enemy balance, and affixes have all received some adjustments:

  • Champions: A new class of enemy. Champions are a subset of Rare enemies with unique names and more powerful abilities. You can find 20 Champion across the game. They drop items with a sealed Champion affix.
  • Loot and Enemy rarity balance:
    • Magic and rare enemies are tougher and drop more items, but regular enemies drop items less often.
    • Some items from large explosions of loot are exchanged for extra gold, and gold drops in multiple piles when a large amount drops at once.
    • Fixed a long-standing bug that caused rare item drop rate to massively spike at level 51 and then decrease as area level increased. This has been compensated for by increasing rare item drop rate at very high levels.
    • Enemies now have 10% more health at level 100, scaling up from 0% more at level 20.
    • Exiled mages have 5% more health at level 100, scaling linearly up from 25% less health at level 0.
    • Rune Prisons spawn slightly less frequently by default.
    • Loot Lizards spawn less frequently by default.
    • Loot Lizards now take 45s to flee (from 40).
  • Player Health and Ward Changes.
  • Item Affix adjustments.
  • Idols modifications.
  • Enemy balance adjustments.
  • Added 18 new regular enemies, 5 new mini-bosses, and 5 new bosses.
  • Boss Ward and Damage over time changes.

Unique and Set Items

On top of adjustments made to existing items, a total of 28 new Uniques have been added to the game:

  • 4 Custom Backer Uniques
  • 8 Uniques with Weaver’s Will.
  • 16 additional Uniques.
  • Added minimum base Weaver’s Will scaling to prevent very low Weaver’s Will values at higher levels.
  • The following set items were updated:
    • Forgotten Knight
    • Halvar’s
    • Invoker’s
    • Lich’s Scorn
    • The Last Bear’s
    • The Shattered Lance
    • Sinathia’s
    • Sunforged
    • Vilatria’s

General Improvements and Quality of Life Changes

  • Improved Gamepad.
  • Targeting Paradigm system for the Gamepad targeting.
  • Mastery Respec: You can now change your mastery at any time.
  • Keyboard movement.
  • Inventory redesign.
  • Auto-storing.
  • Item pickups.
  • Off-hand Weapon and Ring comparison.
  • Seasonal announcements systems.
  • Loot filter changes.
  • Character stats panel.
  • Bug reporter.
  • Game guide updated.
  • General UI adjustments.
  • Localization changes.
  • Visual and Sound Updates.
  • Environment and Zones changes.
  • New cosmetics.
  • New supporter packs.
  • MTX Improvements.
  • Eternal supporter packs are retiring.
  • New Epoch point store items.
  • Various Bug fixes.
