Missed It? Monster Hunter Wilds Player Uncover Hidden Upgrades

A recent Reddit post on the Monster Hunter Wilds subreddit has highlighted discussion after one player discovered a “hidden” weapon and gear upgrade menu — after 77 hours of gameplay!

The player realized that in the weapon menu, you can slide left and right to reveal more powerful upgrade options. While this feature is not technically hidden, it is not immediately obvious either, meaning many hunters might be missing out on potential upgrades.

This revelation also highlights how many small, but important mechanics in the game are not well explained.

One prime example is High Rank armor crafting. When visiting the Smithy, you might notice two tabs: Low Rank and High Rank — but High Rank only appears after reaching Hunter Rank 9. Many players have spent hours hunting in High Rank without realizing that this tab unlocks stronger gear options.

Since there is no pop-up or notification about this, it is easy to overlook. This means you could unknowingly be stuck using weaker gear!

Navigating Upgrade Menus — What You Might Be Missing

Monster Hunter Wilds includes multiple upgrade paths that are not always obvious:

  • Weapon Forge and Upgrades: Aside from the hidden menu discovered in the Reddit post, weapon upgrades can also be accessed through the Upgrade tab at the Smithy. If the Weapon tree feels too confusing, there is a forge tab that directly highlights the weapons you can craft.
  • Armor Upgrades: Be sure to check both Low Rank and High Rank tabs. You want to make sure you are not missing out on stronger equipment.
  • Radial Menu Customization: The Radial Menu enables quick access to items and commands during hunts. But it is not very obvious that you can fully customize it and add additional menus and items.
  • Palico Customization: Beyond initial appearance settings, you can further customize your Palico’s equipment and abilities.

This discovery is a reminder that thoroughly exploring menus and mechanics is important to get the most out of Monster Hunter Wilds!
