Mount Speeds Are Faster on PC Than on Consoles (Mouse and Keyboard Vs. Controller)

Mounts are a particularly troublesome aspect of Diablo 4. The community isn’t thrilled with their rides getting stuck on everything, the barricades and especially their cooldown. However, there’s a new issue that players are noticing related to their speed.

It seems that console players are at a bit of a disadvantage compared to PC players. Or rather controller players compared to mouse and keyboard, as spotted by Competitive-Trade-16:

This isn’t the first time this has been noticed either:

The Two Factors

There are two things going on here, both problematic.

First off, mouse users can move the pointer farther away than the farthest position the controller can go in, and so the mount speed is faster by default. And this issue isn’t limited to mounts only either. It also affects movement abilities like Teleport, Trample, Charge etc, making their move distance limited on controllers.

The second issue is that you can’t “stack” charges (the Spur mount ability) on controller. Keyboard players can get more speed by overlapping mount charge abilities by pressing them in close succession, which does not work for controllers for some reason.

Hopefully Blizzard can resolve this issue, at the very least the non-stacking charge part as it seems like a simple fix. The cursor distance is a bit more tricky, but it’s unclear why it would be shorter for controller players, as they can already adjust their mount speeds by moving the stick less towards the edges.
