Must-Have Changes for Diablo 4 Season 5

In a recent video, popular content creator and streamer Rob2628 outlined several critical changes he believes are necessary for Diablo 4 Season 5 to improve player experience and game balance.

Infernal Hordes

  • Development is far along, so a complete rework of the Season 5 feature is unlikely.
  • The time required for wave events should be reduced and players should be allowed to speed up the event based on kill speed.
  • The kiss and curse effects should be more interesting and provide stuff like random boss spawns, shrines, or goblin packs.
  • Current rewards from the Infernal Hordes are insufficient and could use some buffes. Suggestions include guaranteed high-quality items, Uber Unique chances, and improved material drops.
  • Bosses should be identified clearly to ensure their empowerment is noticeable.
  • The bosses have too much health and they should have more mechanics to make fights more engaging.

Public Test Realm Issues

  • Blizzard should improve access to new Uniques, Masterworking materials, and gold for easier testing.
  • Character imports should be implemented.
  • Improving the PTR experience will lead to better community feedback and overall improvements.

Pit Changes

  • The Pit should be adjusted so you don’t run out of monsters and the progression system should be updated to prevent frustration.
  • The checkpoint system should be revisited to allow respawns closer to where you died.
  • The layout generation system should be improved to remove dead ends and unnecessary backtracking.
  • Boss fights should be more mechanic-focused rather than health-focused.

Class Balance

  • Certain core skills feel underwhelming compared to basic skills. More updates are needed to make core skills more viable.
  • The mandatory need for new Uniques like the Crown of Lucion should be addressed. In their current state, they feel almost mandatory for all builds.
  • The damage and scaling of ultimate abilities should be improved to make them more viable compared to basic skills.

General Quality of Life Improvements

  • Stack limits for materials and consumables should be increased to reduce inventory space.
  • The buff bar needs to be updated to display all active buffs. Right now, some crucial buffs are hidden.
  • A sell-all-button for items should be added to simplify gold farming.
  • An option should be introduced to shorten damage numbers like “1,000,000” to “1M” to reduce screen clutter.
  • Introduce soft caps with diminishing returns instead of hard caps to maintain build diversity.
