Stellar Blade is proving once again to be a great title on PC. The cool post-apocalyptic action game just sold 1 million copies on PC in only three days, a number that took almost two months to reach on PlayStation 5!
PC Launch Smashes PS5 Sales Speed
When Stellar Blade launched on PS5 in April 2024, it took around two months to hit one million sales. On PC? Just three. That’s nearly 19 times faster, and a major win for Shift Up.
On top of that, the game is also hitting a new record peak concurrent player count of over 192k on Steam!
Why Did the PC Version Do So Well?
There are a few reasons that can explain the good PC launch:
- It’s a great game and many players were waiting for the PC release.
- Mod support – The PC community has been quick to add hundreds of mods, including many spicy and cosmetic ones, which most likely attract many players.
- Optional PSN login – Unlike earlier Sony PC ports, Stellar Blade didn’t require players to link a PSN account, making it more accessible globally.
So far, it’s Sony’s best PlayStation-to-PC release! Stellar Blade has outperformed major Sony titles like:
- The Last of Us Part I
- God of War
- Horizon Zero Dawn
A Sequel Is Already on the Way
Last month, developer Shift Up quietly confirmed during a presentation that a sequel is in development. Details are still a mystery, but with this kind of success, the future of the series looks bright.
