Supermassive Games, who is the studio behind The Dark Pictures Anthology games, has just released a post announcing that they are delaying the next game, Directive 8020. The game was supposed to come out way sooner, but now the launch will more be around the first half of 2026. This is due to the studio undergoing internal changes.
A Statement From Supermassive Games

In an official statement today, Supermassive revealed that they have started a “redundancy consultation process“. This may end with up to 36 employees at risk of being laid off, and that is a big number.
In the post, they go over the current state of the gaming industry. As they try to adapt to everything changing and evolving, they have to make some changes. This is for sure not an easy decision for them, and they want to support anyone who will be affected by this as much as they can.
Despite all this, the studio does want to remain committed to quality, and deliver the games they were planning to. One of the games they had planned for 2025 was the next Dark Pictures Anthology, Directive 8020. It will now launch beginning of 2026 instead.

A lot of players who loved the previous games are excited about the next one as well, and Supermassive saw how much everyone was passionate about it! This is one of the reason they decided to take some more time and delay the release. The goal being to deliver the best experience possible!
At the end of their statement, Supermassive also confirmed that nothing will change for Little Nightmares III. The game is still under development, and should release as planned!
