It’s obvious Blizzard is preparing something for Warcraft III: Reforged as we near Warcraft’s 30th anniversary in November. The facts?
Could a Soft Reboot Be Coming for Warcraft III: Reforged?
Back in January 2023, Blizzard sent out a survey to gauge interest in a potential “soft reboot” for the game, with questions on restoring missing features, visual upgrades, and improving campaign content. The survey has sparked speculation that Blizzard might be planning a revival for the game.
Hive Workshop has shared details of the survey, which suggested improvements to balance, the user interface, visuals, and campaign flow. When Warcraft III: Reforged launched, it faced heavy criticism for missing features and unfulfilled promises. This “soft reboot,” if it happens, could finally address those issues.
Patch 2.0 Spotted on Blizzard’s Test Realms
Fueling these speculations, an internal Public Test Realm patch—titled Patch 2.0 (Build 22230)—was recently discovered on Blizzard’s CDN. First noticed in October, this internal patch could indicate that a significant update is in the works, even though no official announcements have been made.

Mount Rewards Reclassified as Promotion Items
In a further sign of possible changes, the Kaldorei War Wolf and Blackrock Warsaber mounts, previously marked as Trading Post rewards, are now labeled as “Promotion items.” This shift has led to theories that these mounts might be tied to a Warcraft III Reforged reboot, possibly awarded as part of a promotion for players who play one game of the new version of the game.
We expect the reveal to occur during the 30th Anniversary Direct on November 13.
Would you be interested in a Warcraft III reboot if it included these improvements?
