What Are Artificer Stones? More Changes Found on the PTR!

No More Runeshards?

During previous seasons, you needed Runeshards to access the Pit of the Artificer. However, we noticed that they had been replaced by a new item on the PTR.

So, if you are wondering how to open the Pit in Season 6? The answer is: Artificer’s Stone.

Previously known as RuneshardRuneshard, it appears that this currency material has been renamed on the PTR to reflect which endgame mode it can be used for. It not only makes it easy to recognize that these materials will be used for the Pit, but it also solves the issue of having too many items with similar names in the game.

Runewords make a return to Diablo 4 with the upcoming Expansion, Vessel of Hatred, and it might have gotten confusing to keep both Runewords and Runeshards in the game.

You can still find the Artificiers Stone under the “Unusual Materials” section of your materials tab. Any Runeshards previously collected on the live servers were copied to the PTR and simply given a new name.

You can get the stones the same way you used to obtain Runeshards: by completing Whispers, Helltide, Legion Events, Nightmare Dungeons, and World Bosses!

Leveling Items Can Now Be Craft at the Blacksmith!

Another item was also found to have moved from one NPC to another: the Allowance CacheAllowance Cache!

Starting at Level 20 up to Level 50, you can now craft this cache at the Blacksmith under the “Forge Equipment” tab. Opening this cache will reward you with early-game Legendary gear.
