The final archetype being added to Ashes of Creation, the Summoner, is now officially playable on the PTR. This creative new archetype is completely different than all the others and allows testers to command powerful vessels (or summons) that can tank, deal damage, and support their allies.
In some cases, players are calling Summoners the “universal” archetype, as they can summon specific vessels to fill certain roles within a group’s composition. With that being said, the Summoner is the perfect archetype to choose from if you’re unsure on which to decide on!
Types of Vessels for Summoners
The Summoner archetype is nothing without their loyal vessels! As a Summoner, you will be able to command one of three unique vessels at a time, each offering a distinct role.
More information on each of these three can be found below.

The Guardian: A steadfast protector who specializes in pulling aggro, soaking damage, and disrupting enemies. With Stomp, the Guardian slams the ground, damaging foes and generating threat.

The Hunter: A nimble striker capable of melee and ranged assaults. Its signature ability, Eviscerate, deals devastating single-target damage when striking from behind.

The Mystic: A supportive vessel that heals, shields, and even dishes out AoE damage from afar. Recreate restores an ally’s health and can group-heal under certain conditions.
How to Play the Summoner Archetype in Ashes of Creation
The Summoner archetype is currently only available for testing on the PTR. Summoner will officially be launched to the actual Alpha Two Phase Three testing on November 18, 2025. Additional updates coming on November 18 include the new Harbringer System, Sport Fishing, and more!
Don’t worry though – as long as you have an active Alpha Two key, you have full access to the PTR, allowing you to jump in and start testing the Summoner for yourself.
Be sure to provide your feedback to the official Summoner Dev Discussion Thread, as there will likely be many, many changes before the full implementation of this archetype within Phase Three.
