With Patch 7.4 releasing on the 16th of next month, players from across Eorzea are beginning to prepare everything they might need for another season of Crafting and Gathering raid gear. Whether you’re a market veteran aiming to make big bucks on a fresh patch, or simply looking to see what you may need to prepare for yourself. Here’s a breakdown of what you should be preparing for Patch 7.4.
Patch 7.4 releases with a new tier of raid equipment for players wanting to tackle the final leg of The Arcadion and can be useful to help with that early prog. Additionally, for lovers of all things Crafting and Gathering, the final Scrip Set will be available. This set is expected to be ilv750 and will provide a budget option for players who want to craft raid gear but without the heavy investment into pentamelding. Instead, costing more time and HQ materials.
Gathering Melding Guide Crafting Melding GuideHow Does Raid Delay Impact Things?
Unlike previous tiers, due to the holidays, this raid tier will be delayed until January 6th, giving players an additional 2 weeks to prepare. This has the potential to have massive implications for the markets in patch 7.4 and may therefore influence your decision on how to prepare.
The raid delay will provide more tome gear than a normal patch would, this means that people need less crafted gear before the raid. Furthermore, this extended time allows more players to comfortably take their time in preparing gear, food and pots, meaning the overall demand on the market has the potential to be significantly lower and therefore prices may be.
That being said, players familiar with the markets on other patches may remember that the patch with the first 1-week raid delay was still great for crafters if you were ready for the initial rush.
What’s Actually New in 7.4 & What To Prepare
Final Fantasy XIV has plenty of formulaic patterns in terms of both content releases and even the materials used. Allowing players to have reasonable estimations on what you should prepare ahead of time. But as always, take things with a grain of salt.
New Items In Patch 7.4
Listed below are items expected to be new in patch 7.4 and are therefore things you cannot prepare. In the case of a raid update, this is the bulk of items, meaning there really isn’t a lot you can prepare.
- New Crafted Materials from Tomes.
- New Legendary Nodes (No new folklore books).
- New Master Crafts (No new crafting books).
- New Raid food/potions alongside gear.
Items You Can Prepare Now!
These are the main items you can prepare now to be as ready as possible for patch 7.4:
- Gil. Gil is always incredibly useful and your most flexible asset.
- Condensed Solutions.
- Levinchrome Aethersand. There is no new sand expected in 7.4 and we historically use the X.3 sand.
- Lv98 intermediate materials if you really want some materials to prepare. Preferably in HQ.
Additional Considerations
- Make sure to cap your Tomestones and Scrips.
- Outside of lv98 materials, you may consider stocking up some of the more “generic” items often used in pots such as sanctified water.
- Materia both for Combat as well as DoH/DoL.
How Much of These Items Should i Prepare?
Honestly, probably a whole lot less than you may be initially thinking. I would recommend using your crafting list website of choice, and make a list out of the patch 7.2 or 6.4 items and use that as a rough estimate. So if you only plan to make a few sets of gear, you can prepare for that. If you plan to be incredibly active on the Marketboard PvP you can create a list of multiple sets for each class to use.
Generally speaking, if you have tomes/scrips capped, gil in your pocket and a plan in mind. You’re more than prepared.
