The next content patch comes ever closer, as we have another batch of 12.0.5 PTR content notes!
This week we see plenty of class changes, Demon Hunters, Druids, Hunters, Monks, Rogues and Warlocks getting most of the attention. There’s also two new eye color options for Demon Hunters, changes to Ritual Sites, and more.
Here are this week’s changes to the 12.0.5 PTR:
INCOMING VOID ASSAULTS
- General bug fixes and improvements.
RITUAL SITES
- Reduced the number of challenges required for higher tiers.
- To help you with testing, the Challengetaur npc offers gear appropriate for Tiers 1–3. They can be found near Ritual Site entrances. They will offer higher item level gear in the coming weeks to test the higher tiers.
- Ongoing Ritual Site tuning for tank and healer specializations.
- Developers’ notes: Thanks so much for all the feedback you’ve shared on Void Assaults and Ritual Sites! We’re reading it closely, so please keep it coming.

Soul Reaper has been updated – No longer consumes all available charges to cast Putrefy. Instead, grants 1 charge of Putrefy when it is cast. Moved up to the 2nd gate in the talent tree.- The 12.0.5 Soul Reaper change has been reverted – Now consumes up to 2 available charges to cast Putrefy. No longer grants a charge of Putrefy.
- Frost
- DEMON HUNTER
- Demon Hunters can now further customize their appearance with new eye options: a new blue eye color and a flameless option for both green and blue eyes.
- Devourer
- Developers’ notes: Soul Immolation is intended to help you get your Fury and Soul engine started on pull and in-between packs. Spontaneous Immolation triggers once you’re rolling, and as such, compromised our intended identity for Soul Immolation. We’re reworking Spontaneous Immolation to no longer replace Soul Immolation and adding some hooks to make Soul Immolation more accessible and valuable, particularly in outdoor and solo content. We’re also adding some additional tuning hooks and The Hunt focused effects to help it shine in the Void-Scarred tree.
- Soul Immolation has been updated – No longer deals self-damage. Now heals for 24% of your maximum health over its duration.
- Spontaneous Immolation has been redesigned – Soul Immolation heals for an additional 6% of your maximum health over its duration and its cooldown is reset upon killing an enemy that yields experience or honor.
- Eradicate now deals separate damage to its primary target and its area damage targets.
- Feast of Souls is no longer capped at 20 stacks.
- Reverse Magic is now available as a PvP Talent.

- Meteorites has been updated – Every time Starfall drops a wave of stars, a meteorite also falls on up to 2 targets in its range, each dealing Astral damage.
- Meteorite projectile damage reduced by 30%.
- Developers’ notes: This change is intended to clarify Meteorites’ role and how it works. It is changing to drop 2 meteorites on separate targets but otherwise functions the same as before, activating once per Starfall wave. It is meant to be useful against a small number of targets, but not the best choice against only one.
- Feral
- Developers’ notes: We’re updating Unseen Predator to reward better Ferocious Bites more than frequent Ferocious Bites. Damage is reduced by 20% for each combo point short of 5, and multiplied by (Energy Spent – 25) / 25, so you get full value at 5 combo points and 50 Energy spent. Activations from Rank 3 and free Ferocious Bites from Apex Predator’s Craving or Convoke the Spirits deal full damage.
- Unseen Predator Rank 1 gains “Unseen Attack damage is reduced if less than 5 combo points and 50 Energy are spent on Ferocious Bite.”
- Unseen Predator Rank 2 has been updated – Unseen Attacks increase your damage done by 8%/15% for 1 second per combo point spent to trigger it. Additional applications extend this effect.
- Unseen Predator Rank 3 has been updated – Tiger’s Fury causes you to perform an Unseen Attack for maximum damage after your next 2 combo point generating attacks. Rip and Unseen Attack damage increased by 30%.
- Unseen Slash and Unseen Swipe base damage increased by 25%.
- Guardian
- Wild Guardian Rank 2/3 now grants 1/2 charges of Dream Guide or Dream of Cenarius.
- Wild Guardian Rank 4 now empowers Maul, causing it to deal 40% additional damage over time.
- Galactic Guardian’s interaction with Red Moon has been adjusted – Stacks of Lunar Wrath are now consumed upon spending 20 Rage.
- Regrowths cast by Dream Guide now heal for an additional 100%.
- Balance
- HUNTER
- Marksmanship
- Developers’ notes: Our goal with the following changes is to reintroduce some build diversity and rotational complexity by adding Explosive Shot to the Marksmanship talent tree alongside a suite of supporting talents from the past. We’re also adding Kill Shot and Black Arrow to Precise Shot’s damage bonus baseline to help make sure those spells are packing a punch and landing in a sensible spot rotationally. Lastly, we’re reducing many modifiers on Precise Shot’s damage bonus and baking some of that lost damage into the baseline power of the affected spells.
- Precise Shots has been updated – No longer reduces the global cooldown and no longer provides bonuses to auto shot. Damage bonus reduced to 50% (was 100%). Now affects Kill Shot and Black Arrow at 100% effectiveness.

- Airborne Irritant has been updated – Blind has 50% reduced cooldown, 70% reduced duration, and applies to all nearby enemies.

- Demonology
- Developers’ notes: We are updating Grimoire: Fel Ravager to utilize Devour Magic instead of Spell Lock due to how powerful having access to a second interrupt is in all forms of content. Secondly, we are updating the spell the Antoran Jailer uses when summoned by the Dominion of Argus apex talent. This new version will reduce tuning constraints as its scalability will no longer be controlled by an unlimited target count.
- Grimoire: Fel Ravager has been updated – Summons a Fel Ravager to assist you in combat for 20 seconds and will purge 1 beneficial magic effect from an enemy. Turns into Devour Magic while on cooldown.
- Antoran Jailer’s Soul Barrage has been updated – Releases a volley of Chaos magic that deals Chaos damage to the target and up to 10 additional targets within 10 yards.
- Destruction
- Developers’ notes: We have swapped the positions of Chaos Incarnate and Inferno to make it easier for Hellcaller to avoid taking Inferno while trying to access Chaos Incarnate. Additionally, we are updating Conflagration of Chaos so that it benefits both Conflagrate and Shadowburn regardless of which spell was cast to activate its effect.
- Conflagration of Chaos has been updated – Conflagrate and Shadowburn have a 100% chance to guarantee your next cast of either ability to critically strike and increases its damage by your critical strike chance.
