Toei Company, the Japanese studio behind One Piece, Dragon Ball, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh, just announced that it is getting into video games. The new publishing brand is called Toei Games, and the first title will be announced on April 24.
Apparently, the plan is to start with PC via Steam first, then expand into consoles like Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox down the line. What is interesting is that the initial lineup will not be based on any existing Toei IP. The focus is entirely on original games from creators in Japan and around the world.
So no Dragon Ball or One Piece game to start, at least not right away. But given the catalogue Toei has, it is hard to imagine that never happening.
The first game announcement is just three days away, so we will not have to wait long to see what direction Toei Games is going for. Exciting times ahead!
