AION 2 Release Officially Confirmed Globally for 2026

NCSoft has confirmed that AION 2 will launch globally in 2026, giving us the first real timeframe for the MMO sequel!

There is no exact date yet, but in a recent post on Steam, the devs say they will start sharing more details in May, so this is likely just the beginning of the reveal. May is only in a few weeks, so you better keep an eye out, it is coming soon!

Picking up 200 Years After

The game takes place 200 years after the original Aion, in a world that is still dealing with the fallout of the Tower of Eternity’s collapse. The Daevas are weaker, the war against the Balaur is still ongoing, and the whole setup leans into rebuilding rather than dominance.

At launch, the game is planned as a global release, with servers across North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. It will also support a pretty wide range of languages, so it is clearly being positioned as a worldwide launch from day one.

Positive Reactions With One Big Concern

So far, the reaction has been really positive, mostly because people are just happy to see the franchise come back in a more modern form.

A lot of players are especially interested to see if the game can bring back what made Aion stand out back then, with the large-scale PvP, faction wars, and aerial combat that feels meaningful.

At the same time, though, there is one concern that keeps coming up: monetization.

Even this early, some players are already worried that AION 2 could lean too much into pay-to-win systems, especially since this has been a recurring issue with some of NCSoft’s games. There is obviously no confirmation of that yet, but it is clearly something people are watching closely.
