The 10th annual Warhammer Skulls event is tomorrow, and with it, a ton of game studios have dropped teasers for their upcoming titles or updates to pre-existing ones. One of the more popular Warhammer 40k titles, Darktide, has dropped a teaser about a potential new class coming to the game, and the community has a common theory on who is joining the rejects.
New Darktide Class
Since Darktide’s launch, there have only been two additional DLC classes added to the Inquisition’s roster. The Arbites and the Hive Scum were the last two DLC’s, but now Fatshark is teasing a third. Many members in the community have a few speculations, but one stands above the rest. The cybernetic military forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Skitarii, otherwise known as the Tech-Guard, may be coming to Darktide.
Deploying the Skitarii
Based on the teaser trailer that Fatshark put out a few days ago, many fans believe that the Adeptus Mechanicus might be dispatching some of their lesser forces to help with the war on Atoma Prime. This is based solely on the sound of the weapon fired in the distance during the teaser and its bright blue glow, which suggests it’s likely a plasma weapon.

Not only that, but Hadron Omega 7-7, a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, has been a part of the crew for some time and has had parts of her backstory teased throughout hundreds of different interactions between missions. So, introducing the Skitarii could be at her request or due to the Mechanicus further intervening for another reason.
Fortunately, we only have to wait till tomorrow to find out, so keep an eye on our Other Games section as we learn more from Skulls 2026.
