World First Heroic Ula’tek Kill, Final Boss of the Venomous Abyss

The Midnight Season 2 Race to World First is well underway, as we have our first Heroic kill of the final boss! While the non-top 3 guilds were having trouble with the penultimate boss, Liquid’s second day of splits included a visit to the final Heroic boss. It didn’t result in a kill after almost 10 pulls, and the guild continued with their splits. Two days and a big nerf round later, we have a kill, but it’s not by Liquid!

Chinese guild Clear Water grabbed the World First on the boss using a raid composition specifically built for the kill! This, of course, isn’t unusual generally, but this is a Heroic boss so it’s definitely worth mentioning.

We don’t have a video of the kill, but we do have a roster, courtesy of Raider.IO:

Tanks: 1 Blood Death Knight and 1 Protection Warrior
Healers: 2 Preservation Evoker, 1 Holy Paladin, 1 Holy Priest, 1 Restoration Shaman, 1 Restoration Druid
Melee: 3 Arms Warrior, 2 Frost Death Knight, 2 Subtlety Rogue, 2 Retribution Paladin, 1 Havoc Demon Hunter, 1 Windwalker Monk
Ranged: 4 Arcane Mage, 3 Destruction Warlock, 2 Marksmanship Hunter, 1 Devastation Evoker, 1 Elemental Shaman

Their average item level was 303.9, with their top player sporting 310!

World 2nd and 3rd

We did see more kills on the boss a couple of hours after that, with Liquid actually managing to grab the World 2nd with a split group! Despite having said they’re leaving the boss alone yesterday, they came back in today and immediately got the boss down under 1% after using some upgrades and Vantus runes. While they are doing Heroic splits, they did have to use some high item level players over and over in their few kills since then, like Wolfdiscos’s 307 item level Warrior, showcasing just how hard the boss is. Their total item level on the kill was just under 300.

Here’s the full kill pull:

While Liquid did go on to kill the boss more and are spending their entire day today in splits on Ula’tek, there was another guild that killed the boss. Collapse Gaming had an incredible string of wipes on the boss, starting with a 0.8% on pull 20, getting the boss down further to 0.2% on pull 25, and then needing another 13 pulls to finally down it.
