Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) is no stranger to shaking up its combat meta, but Claret’s upcoming arrival is already causing a bit of concern among some players. The reason isn’t necessarily Claret herself. In fact, plenty of players are excited to see what she can do. The issue is what her new class could mean for everything players have already spent months building.
A new class sounds exciting, and it absolutely could be. But for a game like ZZZ, where building a character means grinding for the right Drive Discs and pulling the right teammates… introducing another gameplay archetype can also mean introducing another laundry list of things to farm.
And, perhaps more importantly, another group of characters players may feel pressured to pull.
Players Aren’t Exactly Excited About Another Round of Grinding
Some of the community’s frustration is coming from the concern of building for a brand new class. This follows just after the release of Remielle, ZZZ’s first Lumiflux Agent, which required a whole new set of upgrade materials just to level up. It is very likely that Claret will end up using the 3.1-introduced Thorned Rose Disc set, which is no doubt a grind of its own.
Moreover, players have already spent countless hours farming gear for their other existing Agents, building teams around specific synergies, and collecting supports who work across multiple compositions. The idea that Claret could arrive and suddenly make your investment meaningless isn’t exactly thrilling to many.
The biggest concern seems to be Claret’s new class could eventually demand newly specialized teammates to reach its full potential. If existing Supports and Stunners don’t interact particularly well with the new class, players could find themselves staring down a long cycle of pulling characters simply to make the newest characters function properly.
Of course, there’s still plenty we don’t know. HoYoverse hasn’t revealed enough about Claret’s kit to determine exactly how compatible she will be with the existing roster. With her upcoming debut in a few weeks, along with the Special Program airing in a few days, more info will no doubt come out about her.
For all we know, older Agents could work perfectly well alongside her, and the concerns may ultimately amount to nothing. But until those details become clear, the anxiety is understandable. ZZZ players have already put a lot of work into their accounts, and the last thing many of them want is another reason to start from scratch.
