WARNING: This post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Midnight Patch 12.1.5.
Following the events unfolding after Patch 12.1.5’s The Unbinding of Kith’ix raid, players are wondering whether one character’s untimely end could actually mean something else.
Lady Liadrin’s death had many people up in arms on social media yesterday. Many players believe that Blizzard has thrown away one of the most recognisable Blood Elf characters in a way that felt undeservedly underwhelming. But what if this isn’t the last we see of Lady Liadrin?
With Undead Paladins arriving with WoW Forever, and BlizzCon confirming them for Retail at some point, could Liadrin be raised from the dead to introduce this long-requested class combination?
Could Liadrin Be Resurrected?
WoW is no stranger to bringing characters back from the dead, and Calia Menethil is perhaps the best example we have of how Blizzard could pull this off.
Calia was killed by Sylvanas Windrunner before being resurrected through the power of the Holy Light. She returned as an undead being infused with Light, in another example of undeath and holy magic not necessarily being incompatible.
Alonsus Faol and Anduin Wrynn were the ones to resurrect Calia, and so Faol’s presence in the story surrounding Liadrin makes this theory particularly believable. And for Liadrin—a character whose entire life has revolved around the Light—returning as an undead Paladin would be quite the twist.
Undead Paladins Already Confirmed
This theory is especially interesting, seeing as Undead Paladins are no longer just a community wishlist item. WoW Forever has already seen the introduction of Undead Paladins, while BlizzCon 2026 confirmed they will also be coming to Retail in Patch 12.2, alongside Night Elf and Darkspear Troll Paladins.
The community’s reaction to Liadrin’s death has been extremely critical. But perhaps bringing back the matriarch of the Blood Knights in a different form could open up exactly the kind of character development that players have been missing.
