A “Blip in the Multiverse” as WoW Forever Layering Sparks Player Backlash

Blizzard is, once again, facing criticism over their latest attempt to address layering issues.

With WoW Forever introducing a new realmless experience, layering has become an important part of managing server populations. The idea is to keep the world feeling populated, without cramming too many players into the same areas. However, finding that balance is proving a little tricky.

Too Many Players, Not Enough Mobs

On launch day, Blizzard faced complaints about empty zones and cities. But now Blizzard have rectified this, some players feel that the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. Now, instead of empty zones, some players have found themselves competing for “10 minutes for one mob tag.”

Seems this is not the only layering issue Blizzard has had recently. On 6th November, a server message went out saying “[SERVER] Greetings! There was a slight blip in the multiverse. We are in the process of de-blipping all zones now.”

One player joked that the WoW Forever devs had hit the ““mash all layers together” button” as Westfall was filled with a few too many harvesters!

We can’t forget that overall, Forever has not just been WoW’s biggest launch, but one of their most successful. WoW Forever has been live for less than a week, so perhaps we should go easy on the developers before judging every change too harshly!
