Death Stranding 2 Lets You Skip Boss Fights with New Feature

In a recent Koji Pro Radio broadcast, Hideo Kojima revealed a surprising new accessibility feature for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which launches June 26, 2025, exclusively on PS5.

The feature allows players to skip boss battles entirely using a visual novel-style alternative made up of images and text. Kojima says the option appears after a Game Over, likely on Easy mode.

“The idea is to let players enjoy the full story, even if they are not good at action games.”

Here Is How the New Boss Skip Works

  • Instead of retrying a boss fight, players can opt to clear it via a story sequence.
  • Cinematics and plot content tied to the boss still play- just without the fight.
  • Targeted at players who struggle with reflex-based fights but still want to finish the game.
  • The feature appears after a Game Over and is not expected to be available on harder difficulties.
  • Game Progress: Kojima confirmed that development is now 95% complete.
  • Release Date: Launches June 26, 2025 on PlayStation 5.

Reactions and Development Update

The news was first shared by Genki_JPN on X and later reported by outlets like Twisted Voxel. Although tons of players are praising the feature for being inclusive, others say it takes away from the challenge, calling it “just watching a movie.”

No matter where you fall in the debate, one thing is clear – Kojima wants Death Stranding 2 to be playable your way: aggressive, stealthy, or now, even completely passive.
