Fallout 3 Remake Rumored to Be in Development After Oblivion

With the Oblivion Remaster all but confirmed after recent leaks, another classic Bethesda RPG is now making headlines again: Fallout 3.

According to one of the more well-known leakers, @NateTheHate2, the long-rumored Fallout 3 Remake is still in development, though it may be a while before we see anything official. The comment came in response to a fan question on X/Twitter, and while the leaker kept things brief, the message was clear:

“It’ll be a while before we see it.”

This lines up with the FTC vs Microsoft leak from 2023, which listed several unannounced Bethesda projects, including remakes of both Fallout 3 and Oblivion. With the Oblivion Remaster now surfacing through developer websites and credible insiders, fans are wondering if Fallout 3 is next.

A Fallout 3 Remake Makes Sense

Fallout 3 was a huge turning point for the series, but it runs poorly on modern PCs and has not aged as gracefully as New Vegas or Fallout 4. A remake or remaster would bring it up to modern standards and reintroduce it to a whole new audience, especially as Fallout 5 is still years away.

Bethesda has not officially confirmed the project, but interest in the Fallout series has surged again. Fallout 4 was released in 2015, and Fallout 76 (2018) continues to receive content updates, but fans have been waiting for a single-player entry for nearly a decade, especially after the recent hype that came with the release of the Fallout TV show.

If the Oblivion Remaster launch is successful (rumored to release around April 21st), it could help pave the way for more remaster projects like this one while the studio works on Elder Scrolls 6 and future Fallout titles.

Of course, we will keep you updated as more info drops. For now, Fallout fans may have to stay patient, but hope is definitely still alive!
