Winning with Gold Ship in Umamusume: Pretty Derby is as difficult as it can get, due to her carefree nature. She can easily win races you had no chance of winning, and then lose the ones where she’s the No. 1 favorite for no reason.
If you’re playing the Career mode, you have to be very careful with what you do, because a single mistake can stop you from achieving your goals. This guide will help you along every step of the way to make Gold Ship the Champion of the Ura Finale.
Preparations – Gold Ship

Before you start Gold Ship’s career, you’ll need to make certain preparations. This includes selecting Legacies and Support Cards. Legacies trigger twice during Gold Ship’s career, giving her stat boosts before tough races. Support Cards will provide some growth bonuses, as well as chances to learn certain skills during the career.
Other than that, you should also have a few Alarm Clocks to spare. Gold Ship might fail a race out of nowhere, so keep Alarm Clocks ready to retry. Also, if Gold Ship falls sick and doesn’t immediately recover from a trip to the infirmary the next turn, or if her mood suddenly turns Awful, it’s best just to restart the career.
Legacy

Legacies provide an initial stat boost at the start of the career, and then later on up to two times. You can also learn skills of the characters that you’ve selected in the Legacy slots.
For Gold Ship, you’d want to focus more on stats gained from the Legacy than on any skill. Keep in mind that you can also borrow a character’s legacy from any other player, but it costs Monies, which you’d have plenty of to spare.
You should pick Legacies that drastically boost your Gold Ship’s Speed stat. Legacies of Umamusume, such as Oguri Cap or Agnes Tachyon, can be a great fit for Gold Ship.
Support Cards

You can select up to six Support Cards before beginning your career. It is recommended that you have at least five SSR or SR Support Cards before you head into Gold Ship’s career. You should also keep in mind to level up these Support Cards to the maximum. For the sixth and final Support Card, you’ll have to borrow it from other players.
Make sure that you have one Super Creek SSR Support Card in your deck. If not, you should borrow it from the other players, and preferably a maxed-out one. You need this Support Card to get the Swinging Maestro skill, which is necessary if you want Gold Ship to succeed.
For all the other cards, focus primarily on Speed and Wit, but these Support Cards don’t make much of a difference if they provide the skills that you’ll need for your career.
Skills

After the career begins, you’ll have to focus on certain skills. Investing any Skill Points in any unnecessary skills can cause you to fall short of achieving your goals. Make sure you do the required training events to unlock these skills.
Skills | Description |
Warning Shot | Warning Shot is Gold Ship’s default skill. It will continue to improve as you train and increase her Wit stat. The skill increases her velocity towards the latter half of the race. |
Homestretch Haste | This skill is necessary for Gold Ship to gain that extra momentum toward the last spurt of the race. It can give Gold Ship that extra edge that she needs to finish races in first place. |
Swinging Maestro | Swinging Maestro is the powered-up version of Corner Recovery. If you’ve obtained the Corner Recovery skill first, it will cut the cost of learning the Swinging Maestro skill in half. Gold Ship desperately needs this skill. It helps her recover endurance while turning corners and gain some extra speed. |
Nimble Navigator | Nimbe Navigator makes it easy for Gold Ship to maneuver around the crowd in the last spurt of the race. |
I Can See Right Through You | This skill helps Gold Ship by increasing her field of view while moving sideways, which is something she’ll be doing often to overtake her opponent. |
Ramp Up | Ramp Up increases Gold Ship’s speed as she passes another racer during the race. It helps her in overtaking her opponents and gaining some extra speed in the process, which gives her a better positioning as the race approaches the last spurt. |
Wet/Firm Conditions | Firm or Wet Conditions are the last skills that you should be learning if you have any extra Skill Points left as the Ura Finale begins. Depending on the race course of the Ura Finale, you can choose which type of skill you can get to gain that extra edge. |
Strategy
Gold Ship can be built both as a Pace Chaser and an End Closer. However, it is recommended to always go for the End Closer strategy because of how successful Gold Ship can be with it. Additionally, Gold Ship’s default skill, Warning Shot, goes exceptionally well with the End Closer strategy.
Stats

With Gold Ship, your primary focus should be to train her Speed and Wit stats. She needs both of them drastically. The second priority goes to Stamina. Training Power also raises Stamina, so you can go for it too, but going for Stamina training is good enough because Gold Ship has a 20% growth bonus on Stamina training. Guts is not a stat that you’d want to willingly invest in. But if a Support Card event triggers there and you really need it, then you can choose to train it.
It’s best to rest rarely with Gold Ship, train her Speed, and once her energy is low, you should train Wit to slowly recover her energy. But don’t overdo it, and let her rest after like six to seven turns or before those beach trips, so you’re fully prepared to train her other stats.
Towards the Ura Finale, your stats should look something like this:
Stat | Range |
Speed | 600+ |
Stamina | 500+ |
Power | 450+ |
Guts | 350+ |
Wit | 550+ |
Ura Finale Career – Gold Ship

Unlike most other Umamusume, Gold Ship’s goals are solely about performing well in big races. She doesn’t concern herself with how many fans she has, so there’s no need to take part in any other races apart from the main events. However, if you’re falling short on the criteria for entering a main event race, then you should definitely go for a race to increase your fan number. You won’t mostly need to if she places well in each of her main event races.
Junior Makes Debut
You’ll get plenty of turns to settle in at the start Gold Ship’s career. Here, you want to train your Speed and Wit as much as possible, with a few touches to Stamina training. You’ll have to win this race. And, if she fails to come in first place, you’ll have to take part in another race and take the first position there before taking part in the next main event race.
Hopeful Stakes

Hopeful Stakes is easy. You have 11 turns to prepare. Continue to focus on Speed and Wit, with a few occasional touches to Power and Stamina training. You should take advantage of as many Support Card events as you can during this time, because later on, your schedule will be packed with races.
Satsuki Sho
As Satsuki Sho approaches, your Gold Ship’s Speed and Stamina stats should be around 300. Your Wit stat should also be at least 200. You should’ve learned at least one skill before this race begins. You’ll also receive inspiration from the legacies you’ve selected, which will provide a significant boost to your Speed before the race starts.
Kikuka Sho

You get 12 turns to prepare for Kikuka Sho, and there’s a beach trip after turn 5, where each training method is level 5, and it’s easy to increase the stats that have been neglected all this time. You have to fill up her energy before you head to the beach, so that you don’t waste too many turns there while resting.
Arima Kinen Top 3
You only get 3 turns to prepare for this race. Make sure Gold Ship’s mood is great before starting this race. Both your Speed and Stamina stats should be over 400 by now, with Wit approaching 300.
Tenno Sho Spring

By now, you should’ve maxed out most of your Training Supports, so make the best use of training your stats during this time. Tenno Sho can be very challenging, so try to keep Gold Ship on top of her mood with the recreation and outing option. Before Tenno Sho begins, you’ll receive another inspiration, which will drastically improve your stats.
Takarazuka Kinen
After completing Tenno Sho Spring, Gold Ship must come in first place to achieve the rest of her goals. You should also have learned most of the required skills for Gold Ship by now. She’ll easily place first if her mood is great.
Tenno Sho Autumn

Right after completing the Takarazuka Kinen, you’ll head to the beach once again with Gold Ship, where you can train well in each stat. By the time the race begins, your Speed should be close to 600, and your Stamina should be around 500. If you’ve learned all the skills, victory will be yours.
Arima Kinen
For the second time, you’ll have to come in first place in the Arima Kinen. This is her last goal, and you’ll head into the Ura Finale after this. There’s not much to do here, except to make sure Gold Ship’s mood is great. Keep in mind that after completing Arima Kinen, you’ll only get 1 turn before each race of the Ura Finale.
Ura Finale

Right before the Ura Finale begins, you should take a look at the race course and its weather. If you have any skill points left, you should take a relevant skill to boost your performance on these races. Ura Finale has three races, and you’ll get one turn of break after the first two races.
Keep in mind that you have to place first in each race, and if you don’t, you can redo it with an Alarm Clock or end the career to try again. Completing each race grants a massive bonus to each of Gold Ship’s stats.
After you come in first place in the Ura Finale, you’ll be able to complete Gold Ship’s career with pride, and she’ll be happy to act as a legacy for your other Umamusume.
