Take-Two Confirms GTA 6 Release Date & Hints at Prices!

The wait is finally over, at least for the release date! Take-Two has officially confirmed that GTA VI will indeed release on May 26, 2026. Development is progressing well, and no delays are expected for now.

The announcement came during the company’s latest financial call on August 7. Some even estimate the game could result in over $7 billion in less than two months. But now that we know when GTA 6 is coming, the big question remains: how much will it cost?

During interviews with both Variety and thegamebusiness, CEO Strauss Zelnick has delivered some additional information about the possible price of the game!

How Much Will GTA IV Cost

Take-Two’s CEO says Rockstar will reveal the official price “in due time.” Players believe it will likely fall somewhere between $70 and $100, with $80 being the most probable price. This does fit with 2025’s trend of higher AAA game prices, that we can see in recent titles.

Zelnick also claimed that the company’s pricing philosophy is about “delivering more value than the price we pay”. Their goal is to launch premium special editions, before gradually lowering prices to make the game accessible for everyone.

There have been $80 games, and I am certain there will be some in the future,” Zelnick added, pointing out that players should always feel the experience was worth what they paid.

Competing with Roblox and Targeting the Next Generation

In the same interview, Zelnick admitted that Take-Two is keeping a close eye on competitors like Roblox, and they do not want to become arrogant. GTA 6’s online mode may even get inspiration from the user-generated content (UGC) playbook, with Rockstar even reaching out to top creators from Roblox, Fortnite, and GTA to discuss custom content, brand integrations, and new in-game creation tools! This shows how much the team wants to invest to give players an amazing game!

If true, GTA 6 Online could feature things like enhanced asset modification, bigger lobby sizes, and a platform-like approach that keeps players creating and playing for years.

If Rockstar’s ambitions plays out, GTA 6 might not just be a game! It could be the next biggest game of the generation. But for now, players are counting down to May 26, 2026, and waiting to see if that price tag lands closer to $70 or $100.
