ARC Raiders Hits 700,000 Concurrent Players But Faces Controversy

The sci-fi extraction shooter by Embark Studios is off to a strong start, reaching high numbers of concurrent players in its first week!

Embark Studios shared a warm thank-you message to the ARC Raiders community, revealing that the game hit an impressive 700,000 concurrent players during the weekend, so just a little over a week after launch.

You surprise us, you outsmart us, and you keep us on our toes. We wouldn’t have it any other way,” the developers said.

According to the developers, the many creative ways players are playing ARC Raiders have “completely blown them away.” The game has also been maintaining a strong base on Steam, with a higher concurrent player count than Battlefield in the last few days. And that is quite the achievement for a new title.

Facing Some Controversy

However, not everything has been going good. The game has faced backlash over its use of AI-generated voices, despite Embark clarifying that the original voice actors had given their consent for AI replication. Many players still expressed disappointment, even lowering review scores because of it.

Despite the controversy, ARC Raiders continues to draw more players in, both for its unique extraction gameplay and the fun it provides! Some players are even calling it a potential GOTY contender, but with so many amazing releases this year, the competition might be a little too tough!
