Ubisoft might be taking the Assassin’s Creed series in a very unexpected direction. According to multiple leaks, the long-rumored multiplayer spin-off, codenamed Assassin’s Creed Invictus, is now planned for release in late 2025, and it sounds more like a Fall Guysgame than anything else in the franchise.
Various sources have revealed new details suggesting that Invictus will be a 16-player, round-based multiplayer game featuring iconic AC characters like Ezio and Cesare Borgia in chaotic competitive modes.
The reported game modes include:
- Team Deathmatch
- Free-for-All brawls
- Time Trials, where players race to glowing objectives
Players who qualify for later rounds can apparently pick new powers to shape their builds going into the final match, which is supposed to add a layer of strategy and variety between rounds.
Classic Locations, Arcade Gameplay
Maps are said to feature reimagined locations from across the franchise:
- Baghdad (from Mirage)
- Feudal Japan (from the upcoming Shadows)
- A paradise island inspired by Black Flag
Leaked descriptions make Invictus sound like a fast-paced, arcade-style multiplayer game, with a zoomed-out camera, smaller character models, and over-the-top gameplay; not unlike Fall Guys, but set in the Assassin’s Creed universe.
A Risky Move for Ubisoft?
Assassin’s Creed has always been a single-player-first series, though fans still remember the stealth-based PvP from Brotherhood and Revelations. We just have to wait and see if Invictus will tap into that same tension or lean fully into party-style chaos.
Some skepticism is already building, especially around Ubisoft’s track record with live-service games. After projects like Hyperscape and XDefiant struggled to hold an audience, fans are hoping Invictus can avoid similar pitfalls. A free-to-play model might help, but only if the monetization is kept in check.
And although Ubisoft has not officially confirmed these details, multiple insiders report that Assassin’s Creed Invictus is on track to launch in 2025, possibly as a more experimental stopgap between bigger flagship entries.
Of course, we will update you as soon as Ubisoft makes anything official.
