Black Cat Marvel Rivals

Black Cat Is the Wildest Hero Yet in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals Season 7.5 mid-season is fast approaching, and the devs have finally revealed Black Cat as the newest DPS hero joining the roster.

Felicia Hardy, one of the world’s most infamous thieves, fits naturally into the dive archetype, but she also brings a surprising layer of utility that could shake up team fights in a big way.

Black Cat Breaks Into Marvel Rivals

The developers have dropped a first look at Black Cat’s gameplay, confirming she’s a high-mobility dive DPS—the first new addition to the archetype since Daredevil.

What truly sets her apart, though, is her passive: damaging enemies steals gold, which she can then spend on temporary artifacts that drastically impact fights.

From the trailer, we’ve already seen a variety of these artifacts in action. Some allow her to turn invisible, while others summon a skull that reveals and damages enemies, create a pillar that pulls foes to the ground, or even open a smaller Doctor Strange-style portal.

But her spending doesn’t stop there. Her dash ability also consumes gold, seemingly trading a traditional cooldown for a resource-based system. The more gold she has, the more elusive—and dangerous—she becomes.

Her ultimate pushes this even further. Black Cat marks all visible enemies with a bounty, and attacking marked targets appears to make her dash free while rewarding additional gold on takedowns, creating massive snowball potential in team fights.

Will Black Cat Cause a Meta Shift?

With recent nerfs to the triple-support meta that dominated Marvel Rivals for several seasons, team compositions are trending back toward a more balanced 2-2-2 structure.

Dive heroes, however, haven’t been particularly dominant. Characters like Blade have required multiple buffs just to stay competitive, and the role has struggled to consistently impact the meta.

That’s why some players are already raising concerns: Black Cat may simply outclass existing dive heroes, especially Black Panther.

While both share a similar playstyle, the difference lies in versatility. Black Panther offers strong mobility and burst, but Black Cat appears to trade some of that raw aggression for significantly more utility and adaptability.

If she performs as expected, it could put pressure on the developers to revisit older dive heroes—and possibly push Black Panther toward a future rework.
