Blizzard Hid WoW: Forever’s First Legendary, but Dataminers Already Found Clues

Season of Discovery was Blizzard’s first real test of how far they could stretch the limits of a Vanilla Azeroth. As the name implies, one of the fundamental aspects of this seasonal server was for players to discover new items, runes, quests, and so on. To keep the spirit of discovery alive in WoW: Forever, Blizzard took measures to hide some of the data so that it would be more difficult for people to scan the database and find. Instead, Blizzard hopes that the community would make discoveries exclusively from the game itself.

World of Warcraft: Forever Overview

While Blizzard has done a fantastic job of encrypting and obfuscating item stats on WoW: Forever’s database, there are still some things that have stuck out to dataminers. And some of these pieces of data appear to be connected with how players might obtain the first new Legendary Weapon in WoW: Forever.

At BlizzCon 2026, when Blizzard announced WoW: Forever, they also mentioned that the game would be receiving its first Legendary questline in the Spring of next year, along with two new raids. While we’re still far away from this second raid Tier, we may have already discovered some clues that could point us in the right direction.

Spoiler Warning

While we can’t know for certain the order in which these items, locations, and encounters take place, all of the below is at least suspected to be related to the upcoming Legendary questchain in some way or another.

If you do not want to see potential spoilers for WoW: Forever’s Legendary Questline, do not scroll further.

Ritual

The first set of strings discovered appears to be related to some kind of Ritual that the player will have to take part in. Whether this Ritual is related to the actual creation of the Legendary weapon or the summoning of an encounter is unclear, but completing the Ritual is associated with a Legendary Ritual Success buff, indicating that it is related to the Legendary weapon in some way. It also appears that this Ritual will take place with the help of the Cenarion Circle Faction.

Encounters

Throughout this process, players undertaking this quest will be challenged with numerous encounters. Some of these appear to take place within the Hyjal Summit raid, some must be completed solo, and another involves solving a puzzle somewhere in Un’Goro Crater.

While Sylvestris Dusksong is a normal boss in the Hyjal Summit raid, Stormwraith is not listed as a boss in the Conquerer of the Wilds Legacy Challenges menu. Perhaps this Stormwraith only spawns when someone in the group is Stormcharged, creating a special hard-mode encounter.

Areas

If you’ve read through all of the data files so far, you may have noticed that this quest will take players all the way from the highest altitudes of Hyjal Summit down to the lowest depths of Un’Goro Crater. In addition to these open-world zones in Kalimdor, there are also many new instanced maps that are associated with this quest chain. Some of them may even relate to the solo encounters listed above.

Items

Finally, the Legendary item itself has been datamined, however, the name has been removed, and the stats have been encrypted. What we do know is that this is a Legendary item that is obtained via a quest. Additionally, the Bough of the World Tree appears to be the item that is being empowered during the Ritual. There also appear to be six vessels that are being used to empower this Bough. Could these vessels be associated with the previously discovered encounters and puzzles?

What the Legendary Questline Might Look Like

While this is pure speculation, based on datamining from a beta build of the game, it appears that players looking to take on this Legendary questline will have to:

  • Complete the Hyjal Summit raid (with a possible hard mode boss)
  • Complete several difficult solo encounters
  • Complete a Puzzle in Un’Goro Crater
  • Complete a Ritual with the Cenarion Circle, which appears to include six vessels

The rewards for completing this quest chain are anyone’s guess, but the fact that players appear to be empowering a Bough of the World Tree makes it seem like this could be a Legendary Staff. If so, it’s likely that this will be a healer weapon, based on the association with the World Tree and the Cenarion Circle. If this is the case, the first Legendary Weapon of WoW: Forever may be a healing staff, which could be used by Druids, Shamans, and Priests.
