Borderlands 4 Reveals Vex the Siren Origin Story & Gameplay!

Things just got a whole lot weirder (and more purple) in Borderlands 4. This week, Gearbox and 2K dropped two new trailers spotlighting one of the game’s first playable Vault Hunters: Vex the Siren. We got one official character trailer, giving us more information on Vex’s backstory, and a second trailer revealing her core gameplay!

Vex Is Not Your Average Vault Hunter

Forget soldiers, assassins, and mercs! Vex used to be a retail worker. Her journey to becoming a Vault Hunter kicks off in the cinematic short “Purple Friday,” a colorful and bloody parody of Black Friday. After one especially traumatic workday, Vex’s dormant Siren powers explode into action, and well… let’s just say no one’s left to argue about discounts.

Her origin story is a wild ride, filled with dry sarcasm, cosmic chaos, and a lot of very dead customers. And it makes her one of the most unique Sirens in Borderlands history.

Vex Gameplay Overview – Phase Energy, Summons & a Killer Cat

In the new gameplay trailer, Vex shows off her supernatural combat style. Built around destructive Phase energy. Vex specializes in:

  • Launching elemental orbs to blast enemies apart
  • Summoning Phase Clones to distract and damage foes
  • Calling on her ghostly pet Trouble, a deadly spectral tiger who slaughters enemies with style

Her kit looks perfect for players who love summoner-style characters, heavy elemental damage, and a bit of chaotic flair.

More to Come – Full Cast Reveal Incoming

Vex is just the first Vault Hunter revealed so far, but she won’t be alone for long. Gearbox teases that we will meet the rest of the cast: Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe, in the coming weeks.
