Crash Bandicoot, a popular platforming video game, is getting a Netflix adaptation by WildBrain Studios, the same studio that produced Sonic Prime. As reported by Whats-on-Netflix, the adaptation is currently under development, but the story and talent details are yet to be announced.
Video game adaptations have been quite popular on Netflix in the last few years, especially Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The immense popularity of these adaptations, and the ones that aren’t on Netflix, has laid the path for more video games to be adapted to animations.
Crash Bandicoot’s History
Crash Bandicoot initially started out as a PlayStation exclusive back in 1996. The franchise has seen many developers and publishers over the years, but its popularity has remained constant. Alongside the mainline games, Crash Bandicoot has also received plenty of spin-offs, such as Nitro Kart, Crash Team Racing, and Mutant Island.

After many consistent releases every year, including main games and spin-offs for different platforms, there was a long break after Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 came out in 2010. The franchise went dormant, and there weren’t any big releases until Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy came out in 2017, which was a remake of the original three games, and then Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2020.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy played a major role in making the franchise popular again on consoles and PC. In 2020, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was also a big hit and was nominated for the Best Family Game at The Game Awards 2020.
Due to the game’s massive popularity, it’s likely that the animation adaptation for Netflix is going to be quite popular as well. However, it is currently unclear when the adaptation is set to be released.
