We cover a lot of stats and have plenty of tier lists and guides over here. But sometimes it’s great to showcase the most true fact of all: it’s the player, not the class that matters. And so it’s important to bring up players that are pushing the limits on those very off-meta specs! And one thing is for certain: Brewmaster Monk consistently ranks at the bottom of every Mythic+ tank tier list. But one player wanted to prove everyone wrong, as ToughShaper set his goal to accomplish the impossible: succeed with a very off-meta spec. Let’s see how it went for them!
Defying the Odds
It was a tough journey, with with PUGs being tricky even for the best of specs. Despite being declined 70% of the time, ToughShaper achieved ++10 (double-chest rewards, AKA finishing the run quickly) across the board. With that, they met their Season 1 goal. Pretty amazing, considering the stigma in the community against off-meta specs.
What everyone in the thread admires is their refusal to rely on shortcuts, like being carried. Instead, they grinded through the system, showing that skill can outshine stereotypes. Massive respect to anyone achieving such a milestone while embracing the challenge of PUG life!
The Other Side of PUGs with Brew
Another player, Mingo shared their experience with Brewmaster Monk as well, but it seems somewhat darker than the previous one. Being kicked out of raids just because they were playing that spec, which feels awful. Players mention that anyone playing Brew is probably chill and skilled, having the ability to ignore the meta and the determination to continue despite easier, more meta-friendly specs.
