If you have been browsing the Market Board in Final Fantasy XIV, and gasped at the price of the Sunray Ray minion, do not worry. You can absolutely catch this adorable new minion yourself as a fisher! No millions of Gil required!
Here is everything you need to know to reel it in!
How to Catch the Sunray Ray Minion
- Required Job: Fisher (Level 100)
- Bait: Dragonfly
- Location: Westbound Zorgor, X:18, Y:34
- Zone: Shaaloani
- Weather/Time: Any time, any weather
Step-by-Step Guide
- Head to Westbound Zorgor
- Go to X:18, Y:34 in Shaaloani (the location on the map on top)
- Make sure you are a level 100 Fisher.
- Equip Dragonfly Bait.
- Start Fishing
- Cast your line into the water.
- You are looking to catch a Zorgor Scorpion first. It bites on ‘!!’ tension.
- Keep reeling in until you get one.
- Once You Have a Zorgor Scorpion
- Immediately use Surface Slap to send it back into the water.
- Then use Chum to increase bite rates.
- Cast back out.
- The Waiting Game
- You will need to sit and wait now.
- Ignore any ‘!’ or ‘!!’ bites, those are not what you are after anymore.
- If you do get a weaker bite:
- Use Rest, then Chum again (if available), and recast.
- Hook the Big One!
- Eventually, you will get a ‘!!!’ bite.
- When that happens, use Hook, not Double Hook or any other variant.
- You will reel in the Sunray Ray Minion!
If you accidentally reel in another scorpion, just repeat the slap and chum process. This minion may take a while to bite, so do not give up too early! The Sunray Ray is marketable. This means it is already selling for millions of Gil on some servers. But if you are patient and have a good bait supply, you can save yourself a fortune just by fishing it up! And if you are patient enough to fish more than one, you can sell those yourself!
